Mi- . Gould had changed his mind ali Instead -
stead of stopping over nIght In Omaha , as
Intended , had gone out on the fast mal

I was only an Incident , but I showed
ho\\ genuine Miss Ooull was.
Apropos of the , vedding. It Is stated that
the Count anI' ( Countess de Castelane are
to bo the recipients of wedding gifts that
" 'ould make a Idng's ransom . Already Tif-
fny has been overrun with orders for gifts
' for the bride and groom. Sir Hoderlcl Cam-
orono whosl daughter , Miss } ittIe . Is to act
as one of the bridesmaids , has selected as
lila gift a beautiful bon bon spoon of great
3 value. The gift Is of pure gold. I Is round
, In the shape In the bowl and has thc handlc
. set wih rubles , emeralds ) , and diamonds of
Durest color and of large size. Its cost Is a
trifle over $5,000. Miss Klle Cameron has
ordered splendid garter clasp. I Is of
heavy frosted gohd cut In open work style.
In the center of the buckle Is a large dia-
snond which was especially cut at Amster-
dam. I is about 2' Icarats but before It
, 'wag " cutS It weighed nearly twice that. I Is
I ' flawless. A unique present Is the one
to be sent by the I'rlnce del Drago to the
. Count de Caztchhane. He has ordered a pipe
so adorned with gold , silver , and gems , as
4 to make I a valuable work of art. As a
companion to the pipe , Drockholst Cutting .
' also one of the ushers , has ordered ' match-
safe of gold as' his personal gift to the
r . count. I Is also of great value and bears'
4 in repousse work a splendid ( copy of the
: painting of the "Nymphs and the Satyr. "
* c Mrs. Klngdon , the mother of Mrs. George
Jay Gould , has ordered a splendid jeweled
44 , chatelaine as a wedding gift .
. But so far the most expensive present . ordered -
dered , and at the same time one of the
; most beautiful , Is the gift of Dr. and Mrs.
: George F. Shrady whose daughter Is the
' wife of Edwin Gou1d. I consIsts of a diamond -
mend cohlarette . with ropes of diamonds ,
the ends of whIch form a countess' coronet.
t Mrs. Edwin Gould gives a magnificent gUI
of three ropes or rare pearls. The two
- L gifts cost not far from 50000. Mrs. Theo-
gis Sutro's gif Is to be a splendid jeweled
comb of rare artistic beauty. : I was made
I In London especially for the purpose for
h , which I Is Intended. ,
I In France they have been looking up the i
personal record of the prospective bride-
: groom anti they find that no feminine
, scandal has ever been connected with his
name ; that he Is neither I gambler at the
many circles of Paris nor al the race tracks
c and that ho has occupied his time wIth the
manlest of sports In place of the usual (1Is-
slpatons wil his colleaguos. Uo Is a rood
shot , a good horseman and Is remarkably
popular amen his associates although his
:
, rather feminine appearance has given him ,
' the familiar s brlquet among them of " 'pow- !
' del puff. " The family Is one of the three i
or four most esteemed of the ancient regime
and hil wife will certainly be assured , I
' accepted by his varents of an immediate
' ' entree Into the most exclusive circles of the
. Fnubourg St. Germain.
