for sugar machinery and supplies under a
promise of 2 cents Ilrotecton per pound for
1894. the sugar gower Is marketing his crop
with practically no protection , and unable to
realize from its sale within $8.000,000 of
what ho has expended on It to bring It to
market. Nearly $20,000,000 furnished by New
Orleans and other cites hal been expended
on the crop or 1894 , up to the time or the
tariff repeal In August. Government licenses
