t Receives the Official Eadorsemsnt c.r
Eminent Experts and a Jury of
Representative Citizens ,
The suit brought by Ohio's food commls-
oner against a Cincinnati druggist for sell-
ng Paskoln. on the grounds that It was
otlitng but glucose , resulted In a great vie-
ory for 1'askola ana n verdict against the
late.
During the course of the trial Prof. Shaller
f the University of Cincinnati testified that
'nskola was not glucose , and even If It was ,
t woulil be harmless. He also bora witness
o Its activity as a digestive agent.
Prof. William Dlckmore of the Miami col-
ege testincd to the same facts. So did I'rof.
chmklt , the chemist of the board of health ;
'rof , William Hoffman and others. .
A practical test was made In court , showing
he digestive action of I'uskola on eggs and
meats of various kinds , whereas glucose under
precisely the same conditions produced no
ffect whatever.
This test but confirmed the experts' state
ments and proved Paskola to be of great
value In Indigestion and wasting diseases.
This verdict disposer of the malicious attack
hat has been made against Paskola by In-
crested rivals , and suits have now been
irought against the proprietors of a well
cnown emulsion of cod liver 'oil for having
given wldo circulation to a false formula and
ther misrepresentations regarding It.
The animus of this attack will bo better
inderstood when It Is stated that Paskola Is
being largely used In the place of cod liver

which has characterized few actors of the
nodcrn or ancient stage , and shown him
self to be an artist ot wonderful resources.
It pleases the mas.'i's ns much as It does the
critics , and Is one of the lineal specimens
of the new American dramatic school. It Is
elaborately staged and the company Interpret-

Woman' * beauty Is a topic which seldom
fa Is to attract the Mention of both men and
women. There are as many Ideas regarding
Ideal beauty ns there are people. To have
health In to have beauty. Mine. Ynle , who
comes to the Uoyd Friday afternoon ,
December 7 , will tell women nil about health
and beauty. She herself Is her own best
advertisement. At 41 years ot age she Ii }
as beautiful usIt Is possible- for a , woman
to be. She U plump , with a beautiful
rour.ileJ neck , which ,1s as wl tc as the down
on a swan's breast. Her hair U golden and
Lhera ls a gleam of sunshine In the hazel of
tier eyes . She la nn Advocate ot all reforms.
She never wc-ars a corset , tight shoes or a
closely-fitting waist. Her gowns are made
after the most approved tclciiUIie. plans.
To begin with , Mmc. Yale was not beauti
ful. As u girl she took up the study of
chemistry , and , becoming Interested lu It ,
she branched -out und perfected herself In nil
its branches. Her father and grandfather
were of a scientific turn of mind , nnd she
inherited a love ot study which 11 woman
seldom possuies. Becoming Interested In
the study of woman , she experimented with
such good results that she decided to make
u specialty of beautifying the female form
an ! face.
In her lecture she w II give various recipes
upon how Jo develop the throat and bust ,
ionto beautify the complexion , how to use
eyes with effect , to promote the- growth
of the hair , nnd various other things In
which women arc Interested. Ladles tno In
vited to take their note books and take down
: he-3f recipes. Her lecture will Include timely
lilntn a to massage , bathing , diet , etc.
The lecture Is for women only. Mine.
Yale will appear In nn athletic costume of
ler own designing , and Illustrates the various
exercises which are productive ot health and
beauty. It Is not a lecture upon how to use
cosmetic. ? , but rather upon how to r.o Im
prove the condition that they are not neces
sary.

NEW YOIIK. Nov. 28. In mi article on
ho Itoinan Catholic school system In the De-
ember number of the North American He *
lew , which m published today , Mgr. Satolll
lakes his IIrat contribution to American
crlodlcal literature. Mr. | ; SatollI devotes
its article ta a review of the foundation of
Catholic schools In Homo by private funds
udcpemluit of the Italian school system
fter the government had succeeded In
1.initiating Homan Catholic Influence from
ho educational Institutions. Ho says : "In
lumber tl.o Catholic schools exceed the gov-
rmnent and municipal schools combined. "
In regard to the qualifications of teachers ,
ho text books and programs and method ot
caching the Homan Catholic schools cn-
leaver to adjust themselves as far as possi
ble to the requirements of the state. The
ellglous corporations stopped at no expense
nor sacrifice to provide for their own schools
n select body of teachers who , ba'ng furnished
vlth tha proper diplomas , would gain by their
ability , zeal und conduct the confidence ot
ho public. And the pontifical committee
provided for the purposes .of the otlitf
ichrols , through normal colleges , where
toman Catholic men nml women were prc-
> .ired for their careers as teachers. Special
pxt books , however , had to be written for
he Homan Catholic schools , but In compll *
ng the currlculunis the endeavor was mftdo
o bring them as far as poss.blo Into har-
nony with those In use In the public schools ,
> oth as regards the division of classes and
ho courses of study.
"In endeavoring to conform the llotnan
Catholic program , " says Mgr. Satolll , "with
hat of the government the fact was not
est sight of that although the ttate may
heoretlcnlly and In the abstract be tle-
icrlbeO as the representative of the people
t Is practically and In concert dominated by
u party and favors the system of education
which Is advocated by the party In power
ather ( him that which Is best adapted to
he needs of the people. Kven In conneo
tlon with the method of teaching In which
the Catholic schools differ greatly from the
public schools the pontifical committee was
at pa us to conform to the requirements of the
state. The number of pupils In the cle-
nentury schools of the Homan Catholics ex
ceeds that In the municipal reboots , and ! If
he number In the Catholic high schools Is a
rifle smaller than that In the correspond-
ng state schools this Is because It li much
easier for the > oung men who attend the state
schools to obtain d plomns , as the examiners ,
'or dlplomao are the teachers In the state
schools. In splto of the humiliation anrt op-
losltlon to which Catholics are subjected
.ho parents hate not lost confidence In the
Jathollu schools , and the results are satis
factory. "
Taking Into account the contributions made
'or Homan Ci > thollo education from all quar-
ers the expenses for primary Homan Catho-
Ic education In Homo would reach a total
of ut least 1,250,000 lire yearly. This
amount comes from direct donations of the
jope , from the estates of the holy see , from
the donations cf certain corporations ,
: hurchc3 , congregations and Individuals and
[ rom the fees of certain Institutions. Mgr.
SatollI emphasizes the cla in thnt the Roman
Catholic tchools In Rome nro more patriotic
more Italian In spirit In methods than th9
secular schocls since It has been their
tpeclal aim to deviate as little as possible
from the national tradaiops which so har-
monloufcly combine faith and science , and to
furnish the boys and girls of the new gen
eration with that grade of culture which Is'
best , adapted to their social "position.
