( Special Telegram. ) The Ninth street viaduct question will take an Interesting turn tomorrow. Nearly 100 of tha wealthiest taspajcrs of Lincoln will unite In a published nlwlge to the voters'to rcliovo the city of any expense that may accrue through the building of the viaduct. The proposition' for $209,000 bonds is to be voted upon Tuesday nejtt. A large number of people do not have confidence In the validity of tlio Oakley law. This law empowers cities .o build viaducts over dangerous railway jrosslngs and assess the expense to the rail way companies. Fear of this law being knocked oul by the supreme court , leaving the city to foot the bill , has had Its Inlluence on voters. The pledge of Lincoln capitalists will undoubtedly exert an Influence favorable to the bond proposition. At present the Ninth street crossing Is at grade over a gridiron of tracks , where a dozen people have lost their lives The estimated cost ot the viaduct and damages to private property Is but $1BO,000 , but the city council lias fixed the amount of bonds at ' 209,000 to cover contlnRencles. Members of the council claim that railway Influences have kept the local press from showing the fact that the railways must pay tha whole expense ot the viaduct. Signers of this pledge claim that 1C the Oakley law Is tilled by the court the next legislature will enact a new one that will stick.
