ot the stockholders of the Pullman Palace

The following directors were re-elected :

ot Chicago. C. Hurlburt of New York and

crljr dividend of $2 per share was declared
rom the net earnings , and will bo paid
November 15 to the stockholders of record
at the close of business November 1. The
directors and the officers of the company
absolutely refused to discuss the meeting
! urther than to say that no action looking
toward any change In the officers or the

It la known , however , that the meeting dis
cussed earnestly the chances of legislation
adverse to the Interests of the company
which It Is feared some of the legislatures

The annual statement of the company for
the fiscal year ending July 31 , shows a total

will be turned over to the Northern Pacific
to bo loaded with wheat for the Sound coun
try , these cars to bo returned later from the
northwest , cargocd with shingles destined for
points on the Hurllngton system. Herein
will be seen one of the chief interests upon
which the Burlington will rely. , and the
favorable rates made lumber dealers by the
Burlington will undoubtedly Insure this com
pany a largo proportion of the lumber out
put of the northwest , destined for eastern
territory. The Union Pacific people admt

western and southwestern lines relative to
restricting or abolishing free transportation
on and after January 1 , a railroad man said :
