Tlic fl.ut ir.innirtlims of the day In wheat wore at subiiaiitlally the me prices as rul d at he l-sa of yesterday's session. The re : lits n * Cliic.ii ; ) , Mlnne epolls and Duluth wore only moderate ? , hut the total at He nrlnviry western markt'ta was again slightly over 1,000,000 bu. Foreign markets were geiicrtlly ijulte btc.KV , Ino exception being nt J'aris. rclexrim * fiom Duluth this morning reported 400,000 Lu. ns the amount told ye rJiy. W 000 it which was to New Vork millers and 100,00 bu. to the Ilaltlmore trade. Negotiations for fur ther lots were said to be In progress nt Duluth today , and Minneapolis early In the day reported a goad demand for cash wheat at GC'ic. Up lo 12 o'cloclt the business done vvna small. The local croud was rather Inclined to sell , and the orders from outside were chlelly to sell December and buy May at Co difference. The tendency wan slightly downward , but not until Hradslrcet's visible supply came to hand did any m.trked Inclination to soil become general. The lat ter repot is allowed 1.G32.000 bu , as the nit Increase In the world's supply last week. A year ago , Instead of a decrease of 73G.OOO hu. In Kui ope nnd all on t , there was an In- crvaic of 3,010.000 bu. There wns a rush to sell , however , when today's figure1 * were matlo known , and December , which had sold sparingly at the opening at uG' c , declined for n moment to Bujgc. The beats used the lever given them by a weak corn mniket and the Increase In Mrndstrcct's visible sup ply to Impress their views upon the unwill ing bulls , and In an excited struggle to nnd buyers In the last ten minutes of the session the price tumbled rapidly to DV/ic to G59&C , and closed at from B3T c to D5V&C. Corn opened firm on the confirmation of yeatentuy's smnll estimated' ' receipts to- tlay. The local crowd vas , generally bear ish on the unsatisfactory condition of the shipping demand. The pleyator peoplowero looking for buyers of round Iqts but failed to nnd any. nnd offers of new No. 3 fcr Decem ber delivery were much freer today than on any previous day for this season. The opening prlc' for May was from [ > 4ViC to 51c , but It took only a short time to get It down to 5lc ; about 12 o'clock H h.'d n fur ther accession of weakness and dropped to f)3Bc. The pressure of September corn upon the market continued to be the weakening feature ot the situation and the elating heaviness of wheat was an added help to the bears as the market was coming to a close. A further break to 53c was experi enced about ton minutes from the clDse. The local bears rounded the market vi ciously when they found It jieldlng , and the local bulls ran and threw away their load as they fled. May declined to GSc , or IHc lower than It had sold nt the opening , and from GSc to & 3'/6c was the closing quota tion. tion.Tho The business In onta was of a rather lim ited character , although the market was fairly nrm at Intervals. May started at 3ij. ' and gradually eased off to 35c , where it closed. Provisions suffered In a similar manner to the grain markets , but rather showed the way than fallowed In the weakness. HiiHlncss was fairly good. January deliver ies , which almost absorbed the entire specu lative transactions , rubd heavy , and toward the close the feeling- was slightly panicky. The Angla-Amcrlcan Packing company started the belling nt the opening and continued to press sales during the p k forenoon.
