( Special to The Dee. ) Despite the fact that several new po licemen have been added to tlie foice during fair week , Lincoln has not escaped from the band ot petty thlevci and ragamufllns that usually Infest places , wheie they thlnU they can ply their business undetected. Early this morning the Capital hotel was the scene of an exciting escapade , In room 111 Smith Caldv\ell \ was quartered with two other men , and about 5 o'clock lie was awakened by the nolso made by some one entering Ills room. Ho got up Just In time to see a man dodge Into the next room He entered this room by another door , but the- Intruder , blammlng the door In his face , made his eUl Into the main hnll. Caldwell followed him there , when the unknown man pulled a handful of silver dollars from some part of his clothing and hurled them at him with sulllclent forceto cut a deep gash In hia forehead. Nothing daunted , Caldvvell kept up the chase , and finally cornered Ills man in room CO. The police were notified , and a couple of officers soon appeared on the < scene , and tawed their unwilling prisoner to the station. He gave the name of 13ush at tha station , but his clothing -was marked with the name of DD- ran.
