CHICAGO , Juno 7 , Wheat was foverls
nnd Irregular today , fluctuating frequent !
within JJic range nnd finishing with %
loss. Higher cables sent prices up , but th
advance was met by fiee realizing. Cor
closed V&c lower , oats unchanged and prc
visions slightly higher all around.
In wheat there was a heavy trade , prlc
changes being sharp and frequent. Oulsld
orders wcro numerous and local trader
operated on n large scale. Thcro was heav
realizing by longs , and shorts covered freely
Opening trades were at from ' .4 to MIC ad
vance , but noon bold off Ic , rallied frpm }
to Ic , cased off I'/sC , and closed easy. Th
early bulge was attributed to the stronge
cables and bad crop news from Iho north
west , and the decline ) which followed due t
free realizing. The second bulge was duo I
private cables from I'arls quoting an ad
vancu equal to 5c , and the price reccdci
again when the public cables were an
nounccd. Another factor early waa a cabl
from Uorlln reporting the rye crop dam
aged and the market excited and higher
New York was said to "bo buying on ft ;
cables and St. Louis also purchased frcel ;
on crop news from the southwest. But tin
local crowd was Inclined to be bearish , am
the market was unable to rally from tin
last , break , closing near the bottom.
Corn was fairly steady within from ' /4 ti
% e range. Keallzlng and the action o
wheat were responsible for the moderate ds
cllne.
Oils wore excited , July fluctuations cover
Ing I'/jC range. Dad crop reports and shorti
covering sent prices up , with a reaction latei
on free realizing. Thu close was Vic from tin
top.
Provisions weic again very dull , but ad.
vanced slightly on some buying by packers
Compared with last night July pork Is 7' t
higher , July lard 2'ic higher , and July rlln
Mi higher.
There was an active demand for vessel
room at lc for corn , and ono boat for oats
got l < 4c to Huffalo to load at eight houses.

Share Speculation on 'Chance Opened Quito
Jlrlsk Yesterday.
NEW YOHK , June 7. Share speculation
on the Stock exchange opened up quite brisk
.his morning , and the trading was well dis
tributed. The greatest business was done
n the Industrials , and of this group Sugar
was again most active.
Toward the close the market te'camo very
quiet. There were occasional periods of
weakness during the day , but the prevailing
one was firm and the majority of the shares
raded In show advances on the day
ranging from % to % per cent , Sugar
and Northwest being about the only
active shares which show a do-
cllno from the closing figures of yesterday.
The trading for foreign account was less
ban for some days past , and was fairly di
vided between both accounts , but the
strength of American securities In London
counteracted any unfavorable Influence that
might have been drawn from the smallness
of the London purchasing movement. The
higher prices for wheat were a factor In the
upward trend of prices of the grangers In
ho morning , ttiese shares advancing
4 and % per cent , but later
est the gains , except St. Paul.
Sugar was sold In the early dealings to re-
illzo profits , breaking % per cent. Then the
clique began to buy nnd a full recovery en-
uod. In the later dealings a reaction of 1
per cent took place , followed by a recovery
of % per cent and a final reaction of > / ,
making the loss on the day of % per cent ,
'ho railway and miscellaneous bond market
vas fairly llrm , but some of the Issues dealt
n made declines.
The Evening Post's London cablegram
ays : Another record was made In the Hank
of England's return today. The proportion
of cash to liabilities la nearly 78 per cent ,
'ho coin and bullion amount to 86,060-
00 sterling , a gain during the week of
11,017,000. ot which 1077,000 < vero gold 1m-
) orted , 807,000 being bar gold and United
States coin , nnd 42,000 from the continent ;
50,000 went out to Argentina. The stock
narkets were Idle today , but Americans were
trong on bears covering. The grangers
vero specially good on the rlso In price of
vhcat. All closed at the best. Argentine
locks were steady. The monthly trade re-
urns are discouraging. The Imports have
alien off 7 and 8 points. The very decrease
n Imports Is partly accounted for by the
argo Influx ot gold during the month.

HOGS It Is becoming very evident that
there Is no shortage In hog supplies. To
day's run of 13,279 was the heaviest In over
two years , and the quality as a rule was
very good. Eastern markets were reported
lower , and packers started In very bear
ish , Trade waa slow In opening , and the
early business was on the basts of a strong
Bo decline , fair to good hogs of all weights
selling nt $4.45 and $4.50 , with poor light
stuff nnd pigs at $4.25 to $4.42 % , nnd choice
butcher and heavy hogs at $4.55 $ to $4.CO.
Acttvo buying for shipping account soon
brought about a firmer feeling , and on the
extreme close $4.55 was a very popular
figure , with a few of the "choice heavy loads
at $4.60. The general market wan fully
a nickel lower , but the close was active ,
with most of the decline regained. The
bulk ot the hogs today sold at $4.45 to $4.C5 ,
as against $4,50 Wednesday and $4.55 a
week ago today. Representative sales :
