A froil pcaro was the nlphn nml OIIICBIX of the day's Influence In the wheat pit. U ndvnnccd the prlco of wheat ' /4o per bu. for n time , hut there VMIH a bare ' .Ac B ln nt tlio close , Corn in rule a lie advance and lost It again. Pro- % lslons vvcrc firm and nccurcd n larger portion tion of the da'A ' advance. Wheat opontil with a Rood general demand for May at a Hhado higher price than It tlnipd yesterday The vvpathor for the noa- BOII of the year was extremely cold In some factions. The fear of perhaps 15 or 20 dc- firces of frost spreading down on the winter . wheat belt caused come covering of short wheat and advanced May In about twenty minutes from ligc , at which U opened , to from G8',4c to BS'Vic. New York sent a Rood many orders to buy In short wheat. H. V , Tester lend In the buying at the opening and look , perhaps , 1,000,000 bll. In the firm fif teen minute * of the session. Other coininlH- filon houses were also fnlrly well supplied with similar orders , but thn first batch hav- ItiK been executed the market settled down Into quiet at around from B8V c to G8'/iC. When the weather service prediction of n cold wave for the greater part of the winter vhcat region tomorrow changed the charac ter once more of the chorus In the pit , the lolces of the bulls again began to predomi nate , Tlio price began to Hue and fi8'ic ' wan registered for May on this second bulge. Then the local crowd , having loaded up early In the day , seeing no frost on the windows dews of the trading hall and hearing of no fresh cash business , commenced to unload , nnd the price got back again to CSc for u moment and closed with sellers at G81&C. The strength In wheat helped It some nftcr that , nnd then came estimates for an other day's mnall receipts and a demand In the sample market was the cash offo'Inga In excess of the supply. T. M. Haxtcr , fiivarts-nupco and Hamsoy-Llghtner were nmong the more noticeable buyers , and Dartlett-rrn/ler , the chief Hellers. The mar ket cased off with wheat toward the close. Oats opened n shrtdo easier , but shortly afterward , when signs of strength became noticeable In corn , the market ralllcl and was slightly ( Inner during the greater part of the rest of the session , but closed at last night's figurei. The provision market was strong at higher prices. The quantity absorbed by je terday's purchases left the market quite hare. The demand continuing and the offerings being light , the advance under the circumstances became a mattnr of course. Daldwln , abdut the middle of the session , began to buy ribs nnd took about 1,000,000 Ihd. and lleasloy took about 2.0,000 Ilia.
