1 6 THE OMAHA DAILY H TKUKSPAY , JUNK 22 , 1893 , COMMERCIAL AND FINANCIAL Humora of Gold Imports Btrcngthcued the Grain Maikot Materially , V/HEAT / OPENED BELOW TUESDAY'S ' CLOSE Opening Trnclci In Corn Wrro nt n Decline Over the I'rnvlons Duy'K , hut a Ho- nctlon rollnneil niul the Cloio Was Strong. ' OillCAdO , June 21.-A report that ll.r.00,000 In sold was ciiRiiRed by Now York banks for shipment by steamers sailing to EnRlnnil to day converted a very weak Kraln nmrkot Into n strong one and wheat and corn both rncovored from breaks they made In the first hour. 1'ro- Tlslons weakened on heavy receipts of hogs and closed at considerable declines stnco yesterday , Jn wheat the opening was about from ! < c to tie lower than the closing figures of yesterday and with only slight fluctuations prices de clined ! { c for July and ? 4c for September , hold rather steady and the closing was the same as yesterday for July and Ho higher for Septem ber delivery. The decline early was a con tinuation of the weakness which existed yesterday , helped along by the weaker and lower cable advices and the report on the French crop In an Kngllsh Journal , which said the damage to the trench crop liad been overestimated. There was consider able soiling at the start and a fair quantity of wheat was bought out on the break , 'there was a peed demand , however , at the decline nnd a sharp rally In prices followed. There was talk of a good buying of cash wheat hero , but Interested purtles wcro reluctant about giving any publicity to the transactions , In- nulryatthu banks brought the Information tliatall thoptlnclpal Institutions would con- tlnilo to carry the wheat they had already ad vanced. Opening tradn In corn wcro at from Me to Me loss , but the very favorable Washington weather crop bulletin , together with bettor advices from abroad and Incicascd olTerlngs , caused many shorts to cover on the late up turn. Owing to this lack of support , the mar ket soon told olt He more. At the decllno there wore Increasing buyers on hand , sup posed to como from the wist , which started prices up , and the estlmato of receipts for to morrow coming light aided In helping prices. ThO market reacted fioin Uc to : s.c , iiilcd itcady and at the close hud lost nothing. In lomo quarters It was claimed that the big buying orders. Instead of coming from the tasti emanated from a local speculator , Cliur- Icy Wright. , The feature In oats was the buying of July and belling of September at from 3c to 3'ic ( inference. Prices were confined to Mo range ml the close was at a slight decline for July , but ut about the bitmu prlco as yesterday tor September. The provision trade got another dose of the snmo medicine as yesterday. The hogs were posted , not at 18,000 or 10,000 as estimated , but at i8,000 ! to ao.OOO. The Chicago Tacking company and other packing Interests again undertook to sell short ribs. Again Wright's brokois sold the market olT. Then on the call Wright went In and bought fully 70,000 Ibs. of ribs. Lard was quiet and Gd oil at Liverpool. Tork was quoted lower , but there was scarcely sny business. Uloslng prices wore close to the bottom for the day. Compared with lust night pork Is down 40c , lard 'JOc and ribs l&c. Freights were slow at He for wheat , l e for corn to llnlTalo and 3Kin for coin to Kingston. The leading futuies ranged as follows : Articles. Open. High. Low. Clone. Thu butter market Is firm and them are buy ers for all that Is coming. While the receipts are very light for thu reason as already noted there appears to bo slight Increase o\crlnbt week. The poultry market remains nhoutstcady , but old roosters are poor properly as no ono will buy tliLin except the drosiors nnd they an bidding only about 4c per II ) . The potato market Ii In had shape and thcie Ib no prospect of Ith helne nny butter In the Immediate futuic. Uld potatoes are not wanted and are utmost uimlnhlo at any prlco , The receipts of now potatoes have been no largo during the piiH few days that the market Is dcmorallred , The leporlH Indicate that there aio silll a good many potatneson the road headed In this direction , which will tend to still further depress the market. The market on green vegotablcs Is quiet. Homo grown gulden truck Is so plenty that there Is now very llttlo that can bo chipped In here. There Is , howexcr , qutto a business being done In the way of snipping out now vegetables on orders from the country. The receipts of berries this morning wcro mil to liberal nnd the market was well supplied. There wore it .pood many homo grown fctraw- berrles , Borne of them of pretty good quality. Thu run of black raspberries uus about the largest blnce the opening of the season , whllo there wcro a few blackberries. A few red raspberries havu put In nn appearance , but they wciu not very choice stock , The receipts of eggs are light and advices from points out through the state Indicate that there has been a falling olT In the re ceipts all along the lino. That , however , Is not the only feature to the egg trade , the quality of the eggs that are bolnT ; put upon the market Is poor enough for August. HUlctly fresh eggs tire decidedly i-carce. This may bu duo to the fact that thu weather has been very warm In all sections , while In the eastern pat t of the state there has been a good deal of ruin and thu eggs that are laid out of doors on thogiound and In thustfciw stacks are wet and Hteamcd and will not hold up long. At the Mime slum the local demand for eggs Is very light and the market blow. It Is seldom that a buyer takes over ono or two cases of eggs at a tlmo and all the houses are reporting light sales.
