out to IliiKlund on bankers' shipments tomor
row , raising the total ovport thus far In the
year to thu unpaiallelfd hum of * 00,000,000.
The llgino is woith remembering , becausu the
regular gold exporters are pretty well agreed ,
that Satuiday'h shipment will bring to an end
the u\cciilloii of the Kuropcnn oiders. There
are possible In the Intei national movement of
specie , two qulto distinct operations and In
tnu recent sterling market both have played
their part. A banker may ship gold and
cover his transaction by saloof his own bill of
exchange. Iio may , on thu oilier hand , sell ' '
exchange bills drawn by himself or sold to him ,
by other drawers and cover by gold shipments ,
Thu second of thcso transactions Is usually
known as noiinal , yet It has figured relatively
llttlo In the exports of the year. What Is now
stated Is that thu shipments covered by thu ,
sulo of bills In other words the outright pur
chases of American gold have practically
reached an end. Kuropo probably Austria In
particular has had Its order * tilled , and for
thu inesunt closed UH bo.iks. Whether the
regular export of gold to cover foiulgn debts
will cease may provo another question , At |
the moment thuro Is a fair commercial pro lit :
In the transaction.

RAILROAD NOTES.
Inn a lloada Shy Attornoys' Scliomo to
Unit the Maximum Itato l.mv.
As yet the Iowa roads show no disposition
to meet the Santo Fo rate of S17.GO which
that company will put on Monday from Kan
sas City to Chicago and return.
The Burlington nnd Hock Island people
say they arc willing to innko as low a rate as
any other road , but btokcrs play so largo a
part in their business that to make a low
rate would simply throw the whole thing
wide opgii to the scalper , and then revenues
would go glimmering.
Mr. 13. L. I > omax , general passenger agent
of tlio Union Pacific , returned from Chicago
yesterday , hut had nothing to relate of
the situation outside of that given by Tun
BKE. IIo stated that things wcro decidedly
mixed nnd the future considerably huzy.

General Manager Holdrego , Attorney
