After the luncheon and the gentlemen had smoked their cigars Mr. Barnabee sang the song with which ho has been Identi fied for over a quaitcr of n century , 'The Cork Leg , " a som ; which ho sang in concert long before the Boston Ideals , of which the picscnt organisation Is an off shoot , was oven thought of , by Miss Ober. I have a most grateful letter of thanks from Mr. Fusco , and I am bo glad to think I was able to help him a bit , as I consider him a most excellent professor , and w lien I como to America next winter , plcaso goodness , I shall hope to see him in Omaha. You no doubt hoard of the brilliant success I made at Nice and Milan and how delighted our Maestro Verdi was at my performance of Violetta in "Travlata. " It was alto gether a colossal triumph , and I shall never forgot the ovations , attentions and recep tions that I mot with everywhere. Carter gave two elaborate luncheons last week , Tuesday and Thursday , In honor of Mrs. George Worthington , wife of Nebraska's Episcopal bishop Mrs. Carter's homo Is thoroughly adapted for purposes of entertaining and on the days mentioned it was made additionally beauti ful by palms and ferns placed about the rooms. At Tuesday's luncheon the decora tions wore in pink , la Franco roses being placed about the board , whllo hero and there Kastor lilies gave a touch of color to the pretty dining room In the center of the table was a huge lloral piece composed en tirely of la Franco roses and maiden halt fern. Her illness , thougn lasting several weeks , was not ccnoral y known and but few considered her life in danger. Her death was therefore a most sad surprise to almost the whole community Mrs Darrovv was the wife of the late Dr. Uobert D.irrow , an eminent physician of Onuha , Neb , and the dauphter of Mis. U S. Crawford of thin city. At the time of her death she i\as instructor of the school of vocal music at the Augusta Female seminary , and it was in the overzealous disehaipo of her duties In this position that her constitution gave way and inflammation of the brain sot in that soon ended her useful life Besides bclnff a dis tinguished graduate of the institution in which she labored she had further perfected her natural vocal talcntat the Boston Conservatory vatory of Music From this time the teaching of music became her chosen \ocation and she labored in this capicltj most successfully till I'cr iiiiurlaRO some years since , after which she resided with her husband , Dr Darrovv , at Omaha , Nee Upon Dr Dai-row's death which occurred about two years sltu'o. she returned to her old homo and i esumed her former position as instructor in the s < heel of musiu at the Augusta Female semin iry The deceased was posscssodof many excellent qualities of heart and mind and was gioatly beloved not only by the alummi' of the se-ml- nary , who are scattore-d throughout the .south , but b\ the whole community in which she lived As a teacher she was most suc cessful.
