About 1,300 caM's of Algoniiuln Indigo prints were oflurcd and guaranteed by the auctioneers to bo per fect In every way , all defective pieces having been withdrawn. It was not expected that oven under thcso circumstances the goods would bring over 5c any way. The llrst case sold for 5'ic and shortly after the prlco made advanced to 54o ! , then to 5" . c and single-case lots sold at 5'c. A prominent printer was the principal buyer. State and local unions , individ ual societies , each dioccso and parish and every university , college and seminary are entitled to representation. The program of the congress can bo had by addressing Wal ter ,1. Gibbons , secretary , 27 North Clark street , Chicago. "A source of financial aid for us this year. " says the St. Louis Globo-Ucmocrat , "which has not beep mentioned , but which is worth considering , is the approaching Columbian fair. American tourists spend In Europe every year from $00.000,000 to $100,000,000 , without any material offset trom expendi tures by European tourists here. This year the fair will keep thousands of Americans at homo who would otherwise go abroad , and send tens of thousands of Europeans her who under ordinary conditions would stay away. These changes will tell in our favor In the movement of money to and fro be tween the United States and Europe. " The 40,000 souvenir quarter-dollars which congress authorized to bo minted for the Hoard of Lady Managers of the World's Fair will be issued , it Is expected , by May 1 These coins nro of peculiar interest for sev eral reasons. In some respects the Isabella quarter is a much greater novelty than the Columbian half-dollar , as the coins bearing the Spanish queen's portrait are much more limited in number. Ono of the special features of the now coin is that H is the llrst issued by this government to bear the portrait trait of a woman. Other coine oear ideal- jzod representations of the fair sex , but this is the llrst to bo honored by an authentic re production of a particular feminine face. Samples of the admission tickets to the World's fair have just been struck oft' by tbo American Bank Note company , which has a contract to furnish 0,000,000 of them next summer. The tickets nro well executed and about the slzo of the old 25-cent "shin- plasters. " There are four tickets , each of which palls for a single admission at any tlmo during the World's fair. Different colors are used in each variety. Ono bears a handsome vignette of Washington ; another of Abraham Lincoln ; the third au ideal head of an Indian , and the fourth a portrait of Columbus.
