The supply of both cattle and hogs was
slightly heavier than a week ago and the sup
ply of sheep a trlllo lighter.
Dealers who wore looking for a heavy run
ofcattlo were surprised at the receipt of an
oven 100 cars , but buyers were unwilling to
show their disappointment by advancing
prices and the general maiket was moderately
actlvo ami about steady all around. lloth
shippers and dressed beef men bought , but
there was no apparent urgency to the demand
and sellers generally had to bo con
tent with Saturday's prices. A big
string of choice 1,322-lb beeves
brought $5 , but the big bulk of the olTeilngs
were 050 to 1,200-1 b. steers , and they sold
aiouml H.85 and $4.55. Tbeie was consider
able common .stock bete , but llttlo of any con
sequence hull to sell at undeift. .
The more desirable grades of butchers'stock
sold stionger , but common and canning glades
were neglected and decidedly diaggy. ( iood
tocholcucons nnil hclfurs sold at from $3.50
to4.25 , with fair to good stull largely at $2.00
to$3.30. Old thin runs sold down as low as
$1.25. Hough stock changed hands freely at
about steady prices from f2 to $4 for poor to
prime bulls , oxen and stags. Calves were gen
erally unchanged at from J3 to $5.50.
