Alderman Jennings introduced a rcsolt

Alderman Smith introduced a resolutio
instructing the committee on streets mi' '
alleys to report to the council at the rogula
meeting in April the location of all sidi
walks that are so low as to catch accumulc
lions of mud and water. Il was adopted.
Alderman , lenninjrs'ntrodueed an ordinanc
raising the salary of the chief of the llr
department from i"iO to $75 and providin
that he give his whole time to the duties o
his olllce. The ordinance was passed unde
a suspension of the rules.
The cier' was Instructed to have printc
100 copies each of the mayor's message an

A wrangle ensued upon the reading of
lot of sewer bids , and on Smith's motion 1
was decided to reject all bids and instruc
tne clerk to have new specifications draw
up which should provide for the furnishin
of all lumber required by the contractors.

very tame but pleasant gathering , and wit
