lul says : The roircscntutivci | of thu
lawailau provisional government will ,
it the earnest favorable inoinent , cull
he attention of the administration to
ho pending treaty of annexation. They
do not expect that the treaty will he
withdrawn. Of course , Mr. Cleveland
nay withdraw it from the senate as ho
withdrew the reciprocity treaties with
South American states which President
iVrthnr had negotiated when ho entered
upon ills olllco elicit rears ago.
Ono of the Hawaiian commissioners
said yesterday , however , that he did not
anticipate such notion. The fuct that
the treaty was not considered owing to
ilomocriiti ? opposition in the senate was
not to be interpreted , in his opinion , as
indicating that the donuicralio party
would oppose annexation us u policy. It
simply meant that it desired moro tlmo
to o insider it , and that the democrats
preferred to have the islands annexed , if
they are to bo annexed at all , under a
democratic rather than a republican ad
ministration. Moreover , there are
some reasons for thinking that President
Cleveland is disposed to have a commis
sion sent to the islands to make a
thorough investigation and report the
condition of affairs before a llnnl decision
shall be reached as to the policy the
present lulminislratlon will recommend.
The arrival of Princess Kainlaiii , the
so-called heiress-apparent to the throne
of Hawaii , is not likely to have any
marked olfeet or inllueiice hero. The
guardian of the young princess , Mr.
Duvies. said one of the Hawaiian commis
sion. is "an English fanatic,1' who seems
to bo very much elevated by the fact
that ho lias us u ward a princess of the
Sandwich islands. Tlio commissioner
had called upon him in New York and
found him exceedingly .supercilious and
arrogant in manner. He undoubtedly
has made a grave mistake in tlio inter
ests of his ward in coming hero to
America , especially in exhibiting his of-
fensivo British manners. : He Has given
emphasis to the fact that those who are
opposing annexation arc acting in Brit
ish interest.
Recent statements made hero by the
direct representative of the deposed
queen , Mr. Neuman , would seem to indi
cate that he will not make a very earnest
effort in her interests. He was asked
whether or not the queen expected a
restoration , and he answered most em
phatically that ho expected the islands
would pass sooner or later into the
hands of the United States. It is evi
dent that his object here is to secure the
bust terms possible with this country.
The views of Mr. Cleveland himself
have not been expressed on the subject
of Hawaii , neither since ho was president
nor before. The representatives of the
Hawaiian government , however , point
to a mere passage in his message in 188 ! ) ,
as indicating that ho believes the ulti
mate destiny of Hawaii is to bo a part of
the United States.
Some of these who are in the im
mediate surroundings of Mr. Cleveland ,
notably Don M. Dickinson , are earnestly
talking in favor of annexation.
Mr. Dickinson , who by reason of his
residence near the border in Detroit ,
has become very much interested in
Ciumnian matters , has expressed the
opinion that before the Cleveland ad
ministration is ended a movement will
bo inaugurated which will inevitably re
sult in the annexation of Canada.
Mr. Olnoy is said by some to bo an en
thusiastic annexationist and there are
many eminent democrats who will not
full to call tlio attention of Mr. Cleveland -
land to the fact that all the annexations
of territory which have ever been made
to the United States , except that which
resulted from the purchase of Alaska ,
have been accomplished under demo
cratic administrations , und that the
party which has opposed them is the
ono which has generally mot with
national defeat.
"Ilrnco Up"
Is a tantalizing admonition to these who at
this season feel nil tired out , weak , without
appetite and discouraged. But the way in
which Hood's Sarsapnrilln builds up the
tired frame and gives a good appetite , Is
really wondrrful. So we say , "TaUu Hood's
and it will bracnyou up , "
For a general family cathartic wo con
fidently recommend Hood's Pills.

) ro and fortune in the mountainous
ejjlon of Houthorn Now Mexico , just

ipon u cave in what is known as
'dark canon , " iv place desti-
ute of highways , apparently unknown
.o anvono excepting those residing in
the immediate vicinity. In the cave
ivas found a human body. Thirteen
lays wore consumed by the men , who
worked incessantly , before the body
nuld bo taken to the light. While the
'oasil lay in the room at Gainesville ,
Mrs. John T. Billlo. the wife of a reputa-
jlo stoekman of that plaeo , had occasion
to view it. Slio looked but a moment
when she called some of these present
aside and informed them that it was be-
vend doubt tlio famous outlaw's body.
Mrs. I5illlo is a cousin to the Youngers
and so positive was she that she has
telegraphed Frank James , a , former
associate , and the remaining Younger
relatives to oomo and view it. From
them no answer has yet been received.
Close uy the body , when it was found ,
lay a gun of rather ancient typo and
supposed to bo loaded. This she idonti-
lieil as Urueo'n gun. In connection with
those facts she related the following
story :
"About fifteen years ago , when the of-
fleoi'H were hot after the James and
Younger boys , Bruce Younger loft his
liomo in Missouri and took refuge in a
cave in the Gunduloupo mountains in
southern Now Mexico. A negro whom
the Younger family had raised wont
with him ana regularly carried food and
ammunition to the eave and she and
Bruco's sister visited him. On ono occa
sion the negro made his regular visit to
the bandit , but ho never returned , and
from that time nothing has been beard
or seen of Bruce Younger. "
By close observation a gunshot wound
is clearly distinguishable in the right
side directly under the arm. The right
hand is over the heart and the loft on
the stomach. The figure is that of a
man about 118 or10 years of age. IIo
wore a mustache , which can bo plainly
seen , and the agony of death still lingers
on his face.

Mr. Ueeson was called In to tell what ho
knew. IIo cited a half dozen places where
10 said Mr. Frank had borrowed money from
iiiteliers whose meat ho was compelled to
nanccl. He i'.Isa charged that Frank had
ibited n meat linn and that when they ro
used him a loan of M t-c remarked that ho
uut just condemned 200 buslmls of potatoes

Mr. Ueeson said that when ho visited those

Then Mr. Frank was brought In. IIo ml-

said that the whole thing originated in the
nation borne him by Air. Hoesun.
Then the committee and tlio members of

alter wanted the former to make some
recommendation. The board was not pro-
lared to net just then and the committee
withdrew. Afterwards the board did net ,

Somers and Mr. McLicario voted for the
iduptlnn of the resolution and Chief Scavoy
ind Mr. Howell against it. The two latter
ranted both Mr. Hceson and Mr. Frank dis
charged and a new man employed. But
they wcro in the minority and the light is
low transferred to the council.
The board selected four sanitary Inspectors
to commence work whenever Dr. Somers
deems it necessary. They are .I. C. Oreon ,

'The contract for removing dead animals
was again awarded to Newton Nida.v. Two
other bids were received , and were a little
lower than the successful one , but the mem-

satisfied with Mr. Niilay's work that they
did not propose to gl\-o it to an untried man ,
ilthough it does cost a little more.
