Inw The Post's financial writer says : Together
with the early break In Industrials and partly
as ! n consequence of It , money rates advanced
Utl a 30 ifrrcentlevi'l. It need hardly be said
thai thu abnormal rate was a very false ovl-
denco I of the money market's teal condition.
Ittl was reached too early In the day to report
the situation of the largest lenders. As a mat
ter of fact , very little monuy was ollurcd by
anybody today and It may be that a borrowing
demand from the Chicago correspondents of
some banks , noted today , caused the calling In
siCl Stock exchange loans. This movement Is
entirely normal for this period ot thu year and
will probably continue until thu latter part of
this week , at which tlmo a return movement of
currency may bo expected. How thoroughly
local 1 ( was the oxcesslvo call money rates Is
shown by thu nnrullledcondltlonof the money

MONDAY , March C ,
Steady prices was the rule on the cattle

Ultimatum Issued Iiy the Ann Arhnr Itond to
ItH ICiigliu-orii.
Owosflo , Mluh. , March 0. The breach hc-
tweon the Toledo , Ann Arbor & Northern
Michigan Railroad company and ; ho IJrotli-
crhood of Locomotive Engineers Is now ap
parently complete. Now men are gathering
hero ready to take the places of the dis
affected men. This morning Superintendent
Connors issued a bulletin announcing that
old engineers could remain if they would
leave the brotherhood ; If they refused to dose
so , other men would bo put in their places.
As a result of this bulletin several new
engineers took out their trains this morning.
It Is rumored that Chief Arthur will re-
tnllato against the company by ordering a
strike on some ot tlio connecting lines.
This would seriously cripple the Ann Arbor
road. If the engineers go out nonunion
men would bo placed in their positions im
mediately. The company has nonunion men
engaged in Toledo waiting for the result of
conference with thoengineersaiidilremen. If
the nonunion men go to work trouble is
feared on the numerous connections of the
Ann Arbor , as the employes of the various
roads say they will not handle freight from
the Ann Arbor so long as nonunion men are
at work.
Piles of people have piles , hut Do Witt's
Witch Hazel Salvo will euro them.
