The five stamp rpHl on Willow creek is run- nirenpht along on ore from a rich pold mine , discovered by Dunlap and Travis last fall Inis is tuminp out to be a very valu able pr--xriy. ; The Becks are developing a splcnii'l mine near the mflL A short di i- tam-c HDrtti of this property Keanc i Hall are dce. . rinP two pold mines. The luw price of silver is interfering gifatly With the production of that metal in Idaho and i.ntil sometninp isdone to en- haucr the price of silver Idaho winsuffer. . V iny Blinds that would pay handsomely if wori a year ago are now idle , and will re main so as lonp as the price of silver con tinues below { } cents | wr ouue . The cjiayany holding a workinp bond on the Lost I .iprim , in Deadwood district , is dereloping it into a splendid mine , and there Is no doubt that before the expiration of the bond they will pay for the mine and take it. This sale will encourage owners of other mines in that district to develop them , when an Important district will be opened up. There nro many pold and silver mines in that section , but they are so far from wapon road oomn-unication that there is little en- courapen-ent at present for the prosjwtor AVhen cpcrations are carried on as they , shcu.i be on the Pilprim a wapon road will be constru ted to connect that district with the oatsldc world , and many more mines will be optr.ed up. The Bc.ler five-stamp mill , ten miles north -f Idaho City , is runninp right along en rich pold ore. The lodpe holds its own at th ? depth of over 300 feet , which is over thirty feet from wall to wall. The mill has about paid for itself , so the owners contem plate addinp fifteen or twenty stamps early In the sprinp. Activity at Unite. At the mines the week Just closed has bten One of activity , says the Butte ( Mont. ) Miner Yet it cannot be said that more life has bucn exhibited than that which has characterized mining operations here anrinp any previous week. The properties of the Anaconda company arc still idle so far as the extraction of ore is concerned , and from wh t can be learned there is no prospect of a speedy resumption At the liatte & Bos ton notlucp but prosperity and copper matte can be seer , but before another week will bare rolled by the mill will be staiapinp out the white metal , which , with the prosperity and matte , wJl present a very imposing ap- .j > earance. Although silver is still low the Alice corcpany is still droppin- ; sixty of its eighty stamp * , while the Lexington is work inp ful1 blast There is as yet no prospect of the BJO : Bird starting up , the low price of suvcr havinp a decided t ndency to keep it in a stito of idleness. The Colorado and B'-tte red jction plants and the mines upon wh ch thtv depend for ore are also turning out tbe.f usual quantity of copper and sUver. Outsi < 3 of the large concerns there are many scalier ones in action , from some of which vrjy nch ore is being extracted. Ilarnrjr Ponk Tin Mlnr * . It is now authoritatively stated that the . works ' I the Harney Peak Tin company will be started again quite soon , perhaps in a fevr wee us. The company has not dis charged ail employes , but has stopped the mill and work In some of the workimrs. The Dcadwood Time * is informed that fifty mtm are E-W an- have been right along engaged taking cut ore. which is being stored in the large tars. The pumps have not been taken cut as reported and all are running except ; one , wfcith was hfLod to make some repairs ' It U thought by some that the close down was f jr th purpose of fnvring out a few small stiX-kholders and to be used as a lever in accomplishing the removal of the tariff erm foreign tin which is controlled by the owners of the Harney property. National Mtxiluc Conprea * . A meeting of the citizens of Salt Lake City was hrld recently to decide upon a time for tbe meeting of the National Mining con- grcsa. When the congress adjourned in Helena last July it was decided to hold the next session in Salt Lake City early in De cember fhis did act meet the approval of & majrrity if the meml > ers of the executive committee , who were satisfied that it was too early after the prasidtsntial campaign. Work of the Clchth Annaal State Conven tion at Lincoln. The eighth annual session of the Knichts of Labor this year held at Lincoln adjourned Wednesday. The oScers for the coming year are- State master workman , A. D'Allemand of Arapahoe ; state worthy foreman. F M. Howard of Aurora ; state secretary-treas- urer. William F. Moran of Nebraska City. state executive board , John Schultie of Fair- bury , W. G. Hanke of Lincoln , F. M. Howard of Aurora , with master workman and fcecretary-treasarar members es-offlcio ; court of appeals , A M. Hall of Seward. Noah Weaver of Wakefldd , TUiam Gath of Arapahoe ; representative to general assem bly , Anson H , Bigelow of Aurora , and A. D'Allemand alternate. It is usual with the assembly of the Knights of Labor to select three cities , from which list the executive committee shall choose the holdlnc of the next state session. The three cities selected this year are : Seward , York and Aurora. This year's session of the State assembly has been the largest in point of enthusiasm and number of delegates ever held in Ne braska , there being 11C delegates , represent ing ninety-tnree locals. Representation to the State assembly is based on one delegate for everylocal , or. in case where a local has more than 1(0 ( members , then sr h local repre sentation should be one deletrat for every 100 members or fraction thereof. Air T. B. Mc- Guire. member of the general exscutive traard. was in attendance and presided , en couraging tbe delegates with words of cheer , suggestions and peed advice. One year ago when John W. Hayes was in Omaha , he organized Omaha and South Omaha into a district assembly , which later became and is now known as District Asj j semhlyNo. . 12(1 ( , which was subordinate to the State Assembly of Nebraska. Since t that time Omaha kniirbts have determined i that their field of labor will be widened , and their opportunities for good to the workiuir- man will be best subserved by separatum from the jurisdiction of the state assembly and organizing AS a district unto themselves attached directly to the general assembly. Amonthagoappplication to this end was made to the general assembly , which re quest was granted. Accordingly Omaha and South Omaha sent no delegates to the state assembly , but Michael Nelson was sent down as a special arent from District assemply 120 to secure the state's assent to the withdrawal. This was accorded and henceforth local Knights , while at all times in harmony with their brothers throughout the state , will be an authority unto them selves. Among the resolutions enacted by the an nual sessien was one favoring "the mundpal ownership of gas works , electric lipht plants , street railways and all those businesses which in their nature are monopolistic. " That "we demand That the proper state offlcers to enforce the eight-hour law as it now stands on the statutes of the state in stead of opposing the enforcement of said law , as has been done heretofore1 Also , that "all general laws and amendments to existing laws passed by the legislature shall be submitted to the vote of the whole people before becoming curative.1 Xhe state assemply resolved a vote of thanks to the present legislature "for the many good bills favoring labor's interests intro duced during the session and praying that they shall become laws. " It was further re solved that "Wecompliment highly the in tegrity and steadfastness of the legislative members in their long fight to secure the election of a United States senator who has openlj endorsed the principles of the Knights of Labor.
