A few days ago Detective Pound arrested

ofllelating as bellboy at the Hotel Lincoln , on
the charjio of stealing some shirts from n
guest. Do Witt plead guilty , and was sent to
the county jail for thirty days.
Among his effects were found a half
down paun tickets calling for diamonds
that had been placed with a local hock shop
and several in Omaha. The diamonds wore
examined , but It was not until this morning
that Chief Otto ran across a card which
proved that the diamonds were a portion of
those stolen from II. Steinborgcr of Piqna ,
O.-whiIe a guest at Hurst's hotel , Kt. Louis ,
on the 18th of last October. The value
of the stuff taken was $1,000 ,
and consisted of a diamond necklace , a
diamond scarf pin , the ling set with diamonds
mends , rubies and emeralds , respectively.
Chief Harrigan was notified and wired to
hold DoWitt , who is thought to have been
employed in St. Ixniis at that time , as was
gleaned from letters in his possession. Ho
is n nervy young chap and lias the demeanor
of a crook. The value of the diamonds re
covered hero is about * 10t ) and an olllcor will
