at a lliuo when many were buying and in
stead of taking poultry thov prepared for an
oyster dinner or .some other kind that would
not bo so cxoonslve. The great bulk of the
shipments that arrived late came after many
people had nhoady prepared for the Thanks
giving feast , and hence were not wanted
oven at extremely lo.v prices. Tno raaikot
was glutted with tuikevs uad shippou nave
no one to blame out ihenisolves for tbo low
prices at which commission men were forced
to sell in order to clean up stocks.
The number of live turkeys loft over was
very large. It is hard to suv how country
ehlppera expect city people are to eat tur

they nro shipped so as to arrive on the mar
ket only nn hour oiUxxo before dinner time
and then como in ulivo with the feathers
all on.
Other kinds of poultry were pretty well
