The jobbers of Otnnlmhavo varied tbclr reports as to the condition of business somewhat - what during the past week. For weeks and months they have been talking nbout tbo excellent trade that they have been onjovlng throughout the Mate. . The conditions have remained unchanged In this respect for so long n tlrno that It has scemnd Miperlluous to repeat the fuct that trade was nil tbut conld bo desired and bottoi than ever ooloro in Iho bistory nf tbo oitv. Tno Jobbers uro now varying tlio monotony of their reports by nddlni : that business In the city lo also bet ter AtUntion was nailed to tbo fuel u week or two upo that thu outlook In Omaha was deddi'dl.t brighter than It was earlier in the teruoii ntid tt would ntinonr that It Is no longer a prospect , but a reu'lty. ' The jobbers my that they are selling conMdcriiblii more goods In Omaha than was thornse n hort linio ngo and they anticipate n still further imurovcincnt/ln this direction. The Incrouso In the numbnrof men om- cloveo In the clly is maUIng itself felt In u ' gre'ater denmnd fur goods In n retail way which accounts for the improvement , noted bv thojobbuts. As Uioro Is every prospect of ulenty of work for laboring men lor MUIIO lime to coino It Is tcuoiiablv safe to assume tliutlho Improvement noted will continue. The Jobbers of Oinnlm iiru without excep tion very busy , ns Is evidenced by the activ ity nnd bv the uinountof goods tt at uro dully received and shipped. It is conlhlcnilv pre dicted Hint the next , year will shuw great ctmnRos in local jobbing circlcj. A good many other houses nro complaining about not having snfllcicnt room to tuko care of their business niul : u- ( .crling lhat tney will bo forced to sptvuil nut before long. Several removals Into larger quarters nro nlroaily conteinnlatod for the llrst of the vcar. 'Ibis constant demand for moro cxtondnd quarters Is the best ovldnnco of tbo prosperous condition of the jobbing trade ot thu city. Kiintcrii Money Coming U'l'il. Eastern capitalists nro becoming morocon fident of llio value und security ot western Invest men Is as Is evidenced by the tone of eastern financial and commercial publica tions. Of nil tbo western states Nebraska appears to bo the favorite witb investors ul the present time and there is every reason to believe that the next twelve months will witness more nnd heavier investments by eastern ncn : than over before in the same length ol time. Tbo United States Investor in commenting on ono class of western Investments re marks that furm mortgages in Nebraska are in Increased demand , and that there Is a decidedly - cidedly better Iceling with regard to them In the oast. A number of western Investors have recently taken bold of thorn , being con vinced of their soundness as an Investment , end that the prouerty ou which the Igims have been placed are ample security for the amount of the loans. After thosovcrowccd- Ing out process of the past few years , thcro Is probably notn branch of business that Is conducted on n moro safe or conservative ; sis than the western farm mortgage busi ness. ness. The The same authority further remarks that it Is very gratifying to note that tbo farmers this year have uono very well in Nebraska. ! Kcpresentativcs of loan and trust companies report that tbo demand for money has not been as bribk as desired until within the last ixty days. Within that time , however , it I bai revived and there Is morcrgood borrow ing , which Is largely for the nurposo of buy- 1 Ing additional laud. Much of the loaning is done by people who go Into tbo state. Tlio Hunk Clearings. The Increase of the bank clearings of Omaha Is a source of n great deal of satis faction among business men and citizens generally as showing clearly that tliero is an actual incronse in the volume of business In tbo clly. They are clever and plausible and their victims arc generally the country banks. Their method Is to obtain n draft for a small sum from an out-of-town bankon its Now York correspondent. From this genuine draft they have forged duplicates inoda. Tbo genuine draft , of course , goes through all right. Then the bogus drafts are presented , and the swindlers , having established & sort of credit with the genuine draft , and being suillcicntly well known to bo identiliod by * the country banks , the bogus drafts on the Now York banks are generally cashed with out ur.estlon.
