In 1VJI coal had boon sold nt mine weight and all cars WITH billed to Lincoln nnd then switched up to the asylum. Now the coal Is hauled up by the train and weighed at the asylum. From this time on Governor ISoyd and Mr. Rnviok occupied the time in learning how the witness kept tbo honks. Witness stated that the only records wcro memoranda , which were transferred to a general boon and the memorandum destroyed ns of no fur ther use. At the end of the month nil the records are sent to the main ofllco nt Denver. Witness had no way of getting at past bust ness transactions from the books in this ofllce. Mr. Dorgan was closolv examined by Mr. 'iVhltmoro and Mr. liewick regarding the manner in winch coul wns shipped nnd the blio of the coal bin nt tno asylum. Mr. Whitmoro then asked that the witness bo compelled to do so , as ho believed the board hid the power to do. lu response to Mr. Hastings , Mr. Doivnn sold ho had had several petty books since Juno , nil others being sent to Denver , which ho would allow thu board to examine. Mr. Ilubbard as butcher aid the huying and butchering , and made a a return nt the close of the mouth of bis transactions , which passed in regular order through the steward to tbo superintendent , who approved or disapproved as ho deemed they wcro correct. Dr. Knapp hud kept memoranda of cattle purchased from tlmo to time , nnd used this as a check on bills presented.
