Wnr nit tlio Scalpers , War has boon declared by the Milwaukee ngnlust the ticket brokers , the trouble grow ing out of the rate nt which the brokers are selling tickets to Chicago. Ever since the $10 rate wont into effect the Milwaukee puoplo know that tickets were being sold for (0 and In order to get tickets out of the bauds of brokers de cided to purchase all the tickets they could atlbatrato ana compel the railroad com panies to redeem tboinat$10. thereby malting n dollar on each transaction. A number ot men were employed by the Milwaukee lo cal oftlclals to p'urcba o nil the tickets possible ut the fO rato. By pur suing thu system or "spotting" the Mllwnukoo has been nblo to ulmoU ex haust the supply of tickets In brokers' hands nnd has forced tbo brokers to demand n $13 rate with a rebate of W nt the Chicago end. While this notion counteract * the force of the Milwaukee's poMllon somewhat , It doc ? not mean to rest until the roads known to bo cutting the vale draw In their horns mul nlay lair. And the position taken by the Mllwnukoo Is worrying the other roads In the deal very con siderably , although nn alleged newspaper on Saturday made it appear that the Mil waukee pcoplo were getting the worst of it , In otber words , holding the sack. Tlio tick ets on sale In holders' hands nro harvest ex cursion tickets nnd some Kntguts Temnlar tickets. Tboso tickets have boon used ono way nnd nro coed until September ID but the local ofllclals think that the light mny bo carried beyond tUo tlmo originally decided upon. Wbllo nil the Missouri river roads nro in the pool , nil ot them , with the execution of the Milwaukee , bnvo tickets In brokers' Imnds nt tbo $9 mnrk , hoping thereby to increase business.
