Goods continue to move freely In a Jobbing
way , and trndoln that direction Is highly
satisfactory So tnuoh has boon silil of lute
regarding the phenomenal Increase In the
Jobbing trade of Omaha that nothing ro-
mams to bo added. It la auniclont to say
that the trade of the past week has bion
fully up to expectations.
The retail ttaJo In the country la very fair
and collodions nro accordingly un to the
average. In the city the rot all trade nas not
been overly active although about on an
average of thai of the past two IN celts.
Perhaps the most noticeblo event In business
circles last week wns the publication of the
-Xbank stntomonts of both national and state
S banks. For some time it haa boon talked In
business circles that the deposits xvoro rapIdly -
Idly increasing , and that thuro was not a cor
responding increase In the dnmaud for loans.
The publication of thcio statements bears out
the assertions previously made.
The nltio national banks of Omaha , with n
combined capital of $4,000,000 , are carrying a
line of deposits amounting to almost f 17,000-
000. The cloven state hanks show total do-
DosiK of $3,4811,011 * ) ! H , inaKlng In round num-
bcisf O.OOO.OOJ on deposit in O nnha banks.
Comparing this with the statements made In
Kohtuary and Juno of Ih'.U It will ho noted
that Omaha hanks have gained about $ V
000,000.
A compiled statement of the national
banks was published last Wednesday. The
ilato banks did not llnlsh the publication of
thclr statements until jestord.iy. Iho fol
