of Ilio ocean , and this so surprised the local
operators that no cirort was made lo lift
prices In the faeo of the limited selling by the
foreigners.
The news of tlm day as far as domestic
affairs went was uniformly favorable.
The feature of the day was still
the unusual strength in Ilio Vandorbllt's and
Canada Southernscored : a gain of I percent at
one time. The street has settled down to the
opinion thai there Is lo bo Increased dividends
on these properties and therefore their prices
go up without the piirchahoof large amounts
of stocks. Theio were only two weak points

ulilu preferred , which was allowed lo slowly
