Mr. Tuslor ( Hod about six year * Ufto , leaving to his wife his estate , which consisted of n largo horse ranch near Sydney , Neb. She managed the estate for n time , but not being acquainted with busine-re pffalr * , Hie profits of the estate began to dwlndlo muterlally. Aboutajear latcrdls- tcinpcr broke out among the horses and the Block dwindled down so that only 400 horses wore lofl on the ranch.- Appealed to Her Ilrotlicr. This so discouraged Mrs. Tuslor , combined With her other domestic troubles , that she concluded to call on her younger brother , George , to take charge of her estate and man- Bgo It. Dr. George ICoonan , Jr. , was at this time Enjoying n lucrative nractlco , worth about , $4,000 annually , In the city of Sloughlon. In this county. Ho was loath lo give up his practice , which ho hnd worked hard to build un. About two years ngo njonng man named ptoddnrd , who had lived in this vicinitywont to Omaha to practice law. He had been a teacher at Whitewater and graduated from the law school of the Stale university. While lit Omahu ho visited Mrs. Tuslor , who was old acquaintance , and ttius became no- gualnted with Miss Tuslor , a beautiful woman about " 0 yours old. Ho became lull- xnato with the family and visited the ranch in Wynmlng. Dr. Itoonan states that Stod- dard became infatuated with the ranch nnd tated at , the time that he would marry Miss Tuslcr and got possession of Iho property. lie did this , which caused a sensation at Whitewater , WIs. , whore ho had been engaged - gaged to a prominent young lady , and en gendered bitter feelings against him in so ciety circles In this vicinity. No sooner hnd no married Miss Tuslcr , the piece of Dr. Kconan , than Stoddard , so it , is Claimed , began to poison the mind of bin knotuor-in-luw against her Wisconsin rela tives , and particularly ngalnst-Dr. ICoonan , \v\io \ held considerable interest In the ranch , Ho immediately tried to nullify the agree ment existing as to thu management of the ranch , and ihus get complete control of it. Ho failed in his scheme at the outset , but then employed Ileuly , who is quite a char acter in Nebraska , to assist him In the mat- tor. tor.Several Several months ago Stoddard and Healy "Wont to the ranch In Wyoming to get posses- tlon of the stock , but the superintendent of the faun , Nelson , who Is the agent of Dr. Keenan , refused to give it up. A scrimmage ensued nnil the Intruders were driven off the ranch by Nelson and his men. Stoddard Drought a replevin suit in the United States court of Nebraska to recover the stock , claiming that Nelson was not a citizen of Nebraska , whicn ho was , however. The Block , consisting of over 700 horses , was poized by the United States marshal and held bv him. Dr. Iveenan , who now lives In this city , employed L , & Follotlo , Harper , Hoe & Klmmormuti of this city to defend his inter est. They endeavored to got into communi cation with Mrs. Tuslor about the matter and wrote numerous letters , which , It appears , never reached her. Two months ago Dr. George ICcciian , sr. , died , and telegram nftor telegram was sent to Mis. Tuslor to couio borne , but no answer was received. Hogged by a Detective. A few days later Healy and a detective named Hamilton cnmo to this city for the purpose , Dr. ICoonan claims , of keeping The Madison people away from Omaha , so that no / Intercourse could lie hud with Mrs. Tuslor. / " -Healy loft nftor a few days and Hamilton re mained for nearly a month. His aim was , it Is claimed , to frighten Dr. Keenan into re linquishing his claim on the Wyoming estate. Ho dotrgf-il Dr. ICoonan for sonio time and was paught nt it and given a severe drubbing by the doctor. The story leaked out at that time and It Incensed the citizens ngainst Hamilton co thnt lie was forced to leave the city. At the second lolling Mahoney & Furnas were the lowest bidders. This bid was not satisfactory , nnd again the board rejected all bids and once moro advertised. In the mean time an injunction wus issued , slopping such boy's play. Notwithstanding that , the board again advertised and opened up for business this afternoon. " Chairman BIrkhnuser read the order of the court and concluded that the board could make the award , but could not enter into a * contract.
