territorial mllltln. The Indian troubles with
the Pawnees wcro successfully subdued but
four years later they broke out again and
caused great trouble and annoyance and con
siderable loss of life , wliou , pursuant to au
thority from the government. General Thuyor
again raised u forcu of 101 men with which ho
followed the Pawnees nnd forci'd a complete
and unconditional surrender. In the latter
