markot. The ramp int bulls , however , of
which there are a largo nit nby In s ght h ivo
as yet caused no weakening III * the list .and
considerable manipulation of clhiued stocks
seems to give strength to tlio list. Commis
sion people , however , are rather Inclined to
advise caution and some hesitation In bnvlnu-
was noticeable today in tlio early deatlrgs.
The strength of the market asserted Itself
later and hU'lar prices were ic'iched In the
afternoon. The mm kot today lacked tlio ac
tivity of the List few days Union Pacific ,
Atohl'-oii , llurlliigton and Hock Island monop-
oll/ed thu attention of broken whllo the
rein ilndor of tlio list were coniparit-
tholy neglooted and few trades took place
among them. The Industrials wete more
prominent and Hiii.ir was the strongest spot
In tlio whole market , the regul ir list moving
In unison with llurlliigton , and Atchison
showed rather moro strength than the icsU
No serious breaks occurred and the market
was feverish and irregular with ficqnont
changes In temper , but fuw wide lluctuatlonx
Sugar , however , continued to advance stead
ily , the upward movement being accompanied
bv rumors that the trust had practically ac
quired , the Hprocklos refineries , which wqutd
be fur certain reasons operated as Independ
ent concerns. The lint advance at the
highest point was 4' per cent nnd
most ot this was retained at the close.
The regular list , however , developed no
special feature of Interest , and whllo the
grangers were generally strong In the fore
noon they lost what advantigo they gained.
The market Dually closed stoadv to Him with
Insignificant changes for the day. The not
changes are about equally divided between
gains and losses , but the only ones of impoit-
anco are In the Industrials. Thu transactions
