horse made a sudden dash to escape the cur ,
nnd just then another dog came bounding out
from the opposite slue , barking savagely.
By this time thu horse was in n keen run
and the ladles were unable to hold him. Thu
buggy went past the Millurd hotel us though
it had been shot from n cannon.
Midway between Thirteenth and Four
teenth thu animal ran close to iho cans
standing thcro and as one of thu drivers was
turning out Into tlio street the runaway at
tempted to pass between this cab ami the
others standing near thu sidewalk. But thu
spnco wns not wldo enough for the buggy.
The horsu dashed between the cubs and
tin instant later there Was a crash and a
scream , the buggy was n wrocit and the two
Indies were pitched hc.idloiig on the pave
ment , clear under one of the cabs.
The front axle of the biicgy was broken
squarely oil Just inside of both hubs , letting
the front part of the vehicle down and pitch
ing the occupants violently forward and out.
These who saw the frightful accident stood
aihast , expecting to see the two ladies killed.
Fortunately they escaped with nothing worse
than a few painful bruises and n
serious shock. Mrs. St. Julinn was injured
considerably aoout the head nnd shoulders.
She was prostrated by the shock.
A physician was called and she wns soon
restored so that she could bo convoyed to her
home.
Mrs. Killer was not so seriously Injured but
sprang up immediately and complained only
of a fuw slight bruises.
