Will Hcputahlc MeinborMol'tlic School Board Tolerate This ? "I suppose you Imvo notnlng moro for mete to do , " said Mr.V. . P. Morrow , the plas terer , to Mr. Hamilton , Ibo superintendent of buildings and properly , Tuesday afternoon at the board of education rooms. ' No , I will have no moro work for you , " was Iho signitlcaul reply. "Areyou discharging some of Iho force or is there no more plastering to bo donol" n reporter Inquired of Mr. Hamilton. "I shall employ only such men as 1 find willing to do Rouil , fair , honest work. 1 shall bo obliged to get along without some of the men who worked for Mr. Woolloy , " was Iho superintendent's reply. Following up the suggestion thus modestly thrown out the reporter made nn examination of the records at the board of education rooms and gleaned a few interesting facts about the "plastering" bills submitted by Mr. W. P. Morrow and pronounced correct bv Mr. Woolloy during the past year. Mr. Morrow was paid ? T > a day for all the work ho did or claimed to have done , and it was noticed by the distribution of the work on the record that ho never put in less than a lull day ( or a bill for u day ) at any place. Whether ho went to a school building to i patch up a hole wheiosome refractorv anil unruly boy had kicked four square inches cf plastering olt or whether it I was a place where a leak In the roof had loosened half a yard of plastering on the celling it mattered not , the Job was invari ably turned in as a day's work and the board was chnrgi'd $ . " ! . Following are the bills paid by the board for plastering during the ynar past : July , W. P. Morrow At iSon , ? 'J.V August , W. K Morrow $117.5(1 ( ; . .1.V. . Morrow , ? J7 ; Septem ber , W. P. Morrow , $77.50 , assistant , J1S ; October. W. P. Morrow , ? 'J2.fiO , assistant , $ il.'J.r ! > ; November , W. P. Morrow & SonS. > ll ; December , W. P. Morrow , $55 ; January , W. P. Morrow , $ < ' . ' - ' . February was a cold month last winter , not very favorable for plastering , but Mr. Woolley and Mr. Morrow got in bills for $72.50 , all the samo. In March tbc \vlmls whlstlo Urough the crovlcis in a doleful manner and the above named "plasterer * " daubed up "cracks lo keep the wind away" so industriously tint the board paid $30 for the work. In April the plastering bill was $79 and in May jlilO. Mr. Hamilton was in charge of affairs dur ing Iho latter part ot the month of May , but the alleged work had boon begun by Woolloy and vouched for by Wehror. so Mr. Hamilton had to lot it run in as claimed. Then the "nlastcring" business seems to have taken n sudden drop. In the month of June , entirely under Iho management of Mr. Hamilton , thrro was not a cent paid for plastering and W. P. Morrow seems to have lost his occupation. In the bill for the month of May Morrow claims to hnva done $ ' . ) S worth of work at the Hartman school. From the best sources the reporter was nblo to tint ! the work done nt the Hartman school by W. P. Morrow and son consisted of cutting a door through a brick wall and putting on 158 yards of plastering. The board furnished the material and the work cost $ ! )3. ) Some very interesting developments are looked for in the fuluro this " " near touching "plastering" business and certain members of the board who have winked at it.
