Kinnctian , wife of the city treasurer , who lives on the corner near the city Jail , heard low voices under her window a short tlmo after the nrrust was made. She arose to listen , mid .she heard two men talking over n plan to rob someone. Ono of them was lolling the other that "ho , " referring to some unknown , hud lots of money , but that ho had Just been nrrested. The other said that ho must be gotten out of Jail at once , and they would got u hack and Ink" him down on the bottoms , where they could declare dividends on his possessions at their leisure. A few minutes later a man entered the Jail and watited to go on Mason's bail to have him re leased. Kabbl Browne of Toledo , O. , lectured last night at the Young Men's Christian Association before n rather small au dience. The subject of the lecture was "The Talmud ; Its Ethics nud Literary Beauty. " The spealior was laboring under the disadvantage of a very severe cold , but the succeeded in making the address very interesting nnd instructive. Ho took up the tca-hlngs of the Talmud , which comprises all the best literature of the Jewish race down to the time of Christ , In four divisions : First , the touching of rcvor- cuco for parents ; second , the teaching of character and benevolence ; thiru , the In junctions mid teachings with regard to peace ; and fourth , its estimation of the im portance of the acquisition nnd diffusion of Knowledge. This raii.o has boon worked for 200 years , producing millions. The average yearly out put before the mlno was flooded was 24,000 tons of thirty to forty ounces milling oro. The Nepal , on the same vein , was recently sold to a Kansas City company together with the l-.uLuz mill at Parral. They are making extensive improvements at the mine and have started up the mill. The Priceuu was also sold a few days ago to the Phila delphia milling and mining company. They nro supplying their Hidalgo mill at Parral with ere from this mino. The North Ameri can mining company of Now York has bought the Bouquilla mill. This mill was built by a company of Americans of the state of Ohio at a cost of $20,000. A now process for pul verising and amalgamating ore was intro duced nnd proved a failure and the company ' in disgust sold the mill to some merchants o'f Parral for $20,000 and these merchants have resold It at the same prlco to the North American company.
