IKSUO n Social Edict.
Niw : YOIIK , Juno 12. The following ap
pears in the Herald : The Herald has been
requested l > y a member of the Garner family ,
whoso action has the approval of the whole
family connection , to print the following
statement : "Several papers have by mis
take stated that ono of Miss Florence Gar

was present at her marriage. The eldest ,
Mine. La Marquis do Hretult , is at present
in Now York with her husband. The
youngest , Miss Edith Garner , Is nt Vienna

wlstics to rectify this mistake and also testate
state that no ono of Miss Garner's relations
was present nt her marriage. It Is needless
to add that , being of ago , she took this step
against the wishes of her entire family. "
The meaning of this moro than .startling
announcement Is at once apparent. From it
it is evident that absolute social ostracism is
the penalty which the young wife must pay-

There wasn't even a one-ring circus in the
basement of the court house yesterday ,
but thcro was a concert in the ofllee of the
city engineer that afforded amusement to a
small number of spectators whllo it lasted.
The performers were President Lowry of the
city council and Assistant City Engineer
Graver. Some tlmo before the war
they both belonged to the same mutual
admiration society , but Lowry dropped
out and Cirover was suspended for
non-payment of dues. So it has happened
that for years each has been endeavoring to
return less of the other's affections than ho
received.
When Lowry entered the engineer's ' ofllco
yesterday Grovcr didn't got up and
oiler his seat , so the president of
the council loaned over the railing.
Ho was In search of Information about sewer
work , and Grover dhln't have any to give.
Lowry insisted , so did Grovor.
At this interesting Juncture some of the
other couucilmcn entered and stooped Inside
the ratling. Lowry followed and Grovcr
ordered him out. Ha didn't go , but
Grover did , and ho wont In
n hurry , too. Ho headed straight
for the pollco station , and demanded
nollco. protection , saying that Lowry was
Irving to get possession of his oftlco.
The chlaf and mayor wcro notified , and
that was the last of it , as Lowry wandered
across tbo hall into Engineer Tlllson's ' private
olllco and held a conference ) with some of his
confreres.
In explaining the matter Lowry said
that ho and several other members
of the council had ignored Grover and the
latter felt sore about it and had refused to
glVo him Information. Ho said ho hud not
talked loud nor disturbed the peace , but ho
had heard that Grover had sworn out a war
rant for him , and ho was waiting for it to bo

The nnmo of "Foi-opaugh" is a house

border to border. It has always been a
fu-nonym of till that was meritorious In
the show world. It is a priceless trade
mark that lias never been lessened in
value by chicanery. It has but ono
translation. Itmeilnsa good show pure ,
clean and respectable. For almost thirty
years it has traversed thousands upon
thousands of miles its aim to instruct
as well as to uniueo other idols of the

the great , the grand old Forcgaugh

The management of the Foropaugh

Bargains ; all the year round ? Do ! Eh ? Well , you may get fooled on it ,
But there'js one thing you can't get fooled onand that's in buying one oi
those five.'dollar suits of us this week. They are without exception the
grandest value that ever tested the purchasing power of a five dollar note.
They are made of strictly all wool Scotch Tweeds and Cheviots , goods
that if you know anything at all about cloths , you know arc as good
goods to wear as any goods made. The colors are in greys and fancy mix
tures , the patterns neat , the sizes from 34 to 42. We rise to remark that
we will guarantee this suit will wear as long , hold its shape as well and
look as well at the end of its usefulness as any ten dollar suit you can
buy in Omaha.
SIX FIFTY SUITS.
In connection with this great five dollar sale , we begin today a sale
of elegant all wooLidjjk suits , at six dollars and fifty cents. A great many
of our customers could not get suited in the five dollar ones , as their
preference was for a darker suit , and ill order to meet this demand , we
place on sale four hundred strictly all wool sack suits , in two handsome
patterns. Suits that if we hadn't struck a snap in buying , would have
been marked eleven dollars , go this week at six dollars and fifty cents.
" " " "
THOSE. VESTS
which we are selling for fifty cents , are talking for us in every quarter of
the city. They are made of Pique , Marseilles and Duck. They are in
white and light grounds , with neat figures , stripes , checks and plaids , in
all sorts of colors. Compare them with the ones your partner paid a dollar
lar or a dollar fifty for. That'll tell the story.
Why are these vests like a Dago ? Because they can be washed and
not hurt 'em one bit.
