The contest for the child proxy out of the fact that the mother was Induced during the boy's In fancy to sign papers whereby she supposed she waa giving her husband's brothor-ln- law nnd sister , Mr. and Mrs. David Houleln , n guardianship right In the cn < o , hcrhusband and his mother representing that this was the only means of preventing third parties making * n successful application for the child's ' custody. In reality what she signed wns n document giving up nil claim to the boy and authorizing the Hculolns to adopt him. After two years the matter was Inlioti Into court and nn orderwns made tlving the boy to the Itoulolni. Then the mother Insti tuted further proceedings and Judge Wallace gave the child back to her. Then the op posing parties secured still another order giving them the boy , but the mother finally had it sot aside bv the supreme court nnd now has her child. when the shooting occurred , last November , the Jtculolns und llttlo Harry nt their resi dence. Two highbinders who have been osslduous in their attentions ton pretty llttlo Chinese- woman on .Tackson street , San Francisco' created a disturbance In her house late ono night , that brought out Sergeant Price and his squad , as well as 2,000 yelling Mongol ians , who filled up the street for fully two blocks. Ono of the highbinders pulled a pistol on his rival in love , who retaliated by knocking bis antagonist down. In the melco a lot of crockery was smashed and chaos reigned in the woman's house until the police arrived. The sergeant finally cleared the house of nil the male Chinese , and qulot reigned again. Half an hour after the disturbance a light wns discovered in the rooms of the I'iiig ICong Tong highbinder society on Washing ton street , and the squad , axes in hand , broke Itito the room nnd destroyed all the paraphernalia of the highbinders.
