was shot and killed by his former partner ,
Gcorgo G. McCartney. One of the leading
witnesses in the case was B. A. Coition , n
resident of Iowa to whom Melborn had made
out u check forSlOO and which McCartney Is
snld to have obtained and raised to $1,000.
The trial of McCartney was to
have begun last December , but was
postponed until February 23. Colnon came
hero as a witness and bus remained stopping
at the Melborn hotel. Ho is now dying from
arsenical poisoning nnd the district attorney
has taken his testimony. An air o * mystery
surrounds his C.ISQ and It has every appear
ance ot a tragedy yet to bo brought to light.
