D. , was ia the city yesterday , llo had just arrived from Dakota , and speaking of the election , said It was one of the most bitter ever held In the state. Tbo main light was upon the question of the location of the capital , Plerro und Huron being the contestants. The suffrage amendment was snowed under by a largo majority , notwithstanding the fact that the women fought valiantly at nearly ovcry polling place. Mr. Wilson states that tbo ladies , young nnd old , fair and ugly , com menced work in the morning and never deserted - sorted their posts until the last vote wns polled. They drove rigs , importuned Hie male voters , scratched tickets , and made promises to both parties if the amendment carried. His theory for the reduced republican major ity hi Dakota is that the republicans split and wont with the alliance people , while tlio dem ocrats stood solid for tlieir candidates.
