A Lively Meeting ol'tho Second AVnrd
Democratic Club.
The democratic club of the Secoad ward
held a meeting last nigut which came very
near breaking up in a row.
The meeting was hold at Sixteenth nnd
Williams streets and was attended by about
0110 hundied o ( the uutcrrllied of that ward.
A committee was appointed to select dele
gates to the county convention to bo voted
forattho primaries next Thursday. This
committee reported the names of Joseph
Vlnkyka , W. P. Ormsby , Will Holmes , J. P.
Lund , .Inines Murphy , Fritz Bloomer and
Duff Gieen. Melchoir Lets was recom
mended for assessor. When the name of
Duft Green was read half the men In the
room Jumped to their feet nnd the building
shook with their shouts , When ( uiiot was
llnally restored Charles Camcrom objected
to the nomination , of Green on the giound
that ho was no dcmociat and had
worked for Bioatch In the last campaign.
His remarks met with the approval of a largo
number of those present and several others
repeated the same sentiments.
A motion was made to adopt the report ns
presented. This was declared carried after
a careful counting of noses. The confusion
broke out again and threats of bolting the
ticket were hoard on every side. Tha
adoption of the report was llnally reconsid
ered and the name of Frank I'roboski substi
tuted for that of Green.
The delegates -were Instructed to secure
the nomination of.I K. Hileyfor state sena
tor , Thomas Conek and W. A. L. Gibbon for
members of the house of representatives ,
and Charles Vuu Camp for county commis
sioner.
A motion was adopted to the effect thnt it
was the sense of the voters of the Second
ward that those candidates only should bo
supported who would pledge thome.slves to
veto to amend the city charter to allow the
issuing of grading bonds.
