Tlio advisability of making nncffoit to so-
cuio the next convention of the American
medical association In Omaha is being warm
ly discussed by Iho icsidcnt physicians. Ap
pended aio some of the opinions expiessod :
Dr. II L Howition I think it both advis-
nblo and feasible. Tlieio is 110 icasoti for the
asscition that wo could not make it a grand
success , nor is theie any doubt about our ac
commodations or our ability to
fuinish the piopcr cntcitainment.
Tlio association lias already met
at cities with far less facilities than Omaha ,
and jot it has never proved anything but a
Inilllant success. Omaha should suicly se
cure this convention if possible.
Dr. L r MclConnaAs wo 1110 situated at
picsent I don't think wo aio able to handle it
as it dcscivos to bo handled. It is a matter
of eiitci tabling 'J/iOO people , and our local
physicians ate not equal to the task. These
who are. the most enthusiastic am tlio least
able to deft jtho expenses. They would
like to have the adveitisenient and conspiciii-
ty they could get out of it , but would bo will
ing to lot others foot the bill I do not think
thu ptospoct feasible for 1MH at least.
Dr I. Gluck Think it would be a splendid
thing for several ieasons. It would unquos-
tloimhly bo n gicat thing for the city and stiil
greater for tlio piofession. It would bring
about a feeling of filcndllness among Omiiliu
physicians that does not exist at ptesent.
The miijoiity of our doctors heiutlly favor
the scheme. These w ho do not favor it mo
the few who do not want to see any new
comers or voungaspirants make any headway.
The only icason lor objecting to the aflair'is
traceable to the petty jealousies of the old
established Jfli.vsieiuns , who seem to think
that thcv mo the only ones entitled to a posi
tion in the Inint low. Thu.v aio afraid of the
encroachments ol the live joung phvsieiims
who aio making themselves felt in tlio com
munity. Omaha should secuio the session by
all means. -
Dr. S II llussell I would bo much pleased
to sco the association meet hoie. Have little
fear but wlmt'wo could adequately care for
all the \ibitors. It would bo u big thing for
the city. _
