locality jumped hi to popular favor and
received unstinted praise. An instance
of this Idnd occurred at Allegheny City *
lju. Messrs. F. II. Kirgers it iaon , a

there , say a lady after having bought
her fifth bottle of n certain medicine

have cured up my own family and did

cine referred to was Chamberlain's
Cough Remedy. Messrs. Kggors & Son
bought their Urst supply last Novem
ber. They say at fust the bales were
slow , but now their sales of this remedy
exceed that of any other two medi
cines they handle , and thaftho greater
part of their Bales are from merit alo'no
or through the recommendations of
others. One retail druggist in Pitts-
burg , Pa. , hag ordered ilvo gross of this
remedy for his individual retail trade
during the past four months. This
remedy is well known hero and sold 'by
nearly every druggist in the city.

or drop into any receptacle , especially
as it allords tnoin adequate conceal
ment , and they do this without ono lin
gering suspicion of their inability to
roach the only existing outlet when the
time for retreat approaches , s iys the
London Field. Thus traps on thisprn-
ciplp may rcauily bo designed , nnduro
obviously preferable to our rat-trrap
whore the vermin are numerous. This
method was thus explained by our cor
respondent , who spoke ot this trail ' as
being ' 'most successfully u scdin U'ur-
imih , where the rats are a perfect nest.
This jar trap was sot for three nights.
On the lirst occasion I saw seventy-two
rats turned out. On the second night
only niiio wore caught , and on the third
night not ono was caught. The
trap was then put away for s-omo
woel.H , when it was again success
fully used , but 1 am um.blo to say to
what extent it then succeeded. The
common I'egu jar I used was about ono
and a-half or two foot deep and fourteen
or fifteen inches broad and a hole was
punched in the shoulder just largo
enough for a rat to outer. There was
about six or seven inches of paddy ( rico
in husk ) in the jar , whioh was then
buried to within about eight inches of
the top. The mouth of the jar way
then closed , \\ith n board and a stone.
A quantity of old timber joints and
btrnw wore in the outhouse , and no end
of rat holes everywhere around.
