Beef cattle were stronger , but there were
not many hero of auy kind and no good cat
tle The receipts were the lightest of the
week thus far , the break In thn market hav
ing had the effect of cutting down the run
The receipts , however , were plenty largo
enough to please the sellers , as an oppor
tunity was thus given for the market to recover -
cover somewhat from the demoralization of
the two days past Such natives ns were
hero sold at $ tt.05@3.75 , and there were n few
westerns good enough to bring 1.113. Quito
a considerable proportion of the cattle on
sale were cows , and the market on such was
no moro than steady , in fact , some were re-
gaidine it as barely steady Ono large
buyer remarked that his cows were not cost
ing quito so much today ; while , on the other
hand , another buyer reported his purchases
as costlog moro The total sales wcro largo
and natives brought $ l.25@3.50. The fresh
supply of feeders was not largo and a good
mauy of them were northern cattle The
speculators wcro the chief buyers and they
cleared up tliu yards the same as yesterday ,
still there wcro quite a good many outside
buyers in , and before the close of the market
a good many feeders changed bands The
price paid did not show muchchaugo Natives
sold principally nt S2.353.55.

@ 3.C3. Yesterdays decline was moro than
recovered , placing the market at the highest
point of the week since Monday Tbo de
mand was good and the pens were cleared
early in &ho day It looks now ns , if the
buyers ' roallv wanted the hogs ut the money ,
and the feeling was batter than for some
