CHICAOO , OoV 15. fSpoolal Telcfirnm lo TUB Brn. ] Wheat was heavy and lower to day nnd the voltitno of business In futures was about the HVOMKO. In onicoi yesterday afternoon December wheat was traded in as high ns S2c. This morning the openlnp trades wcro on n basis nf S2c. The mnrKot advanced to 82' ' < frs2Vc , sold off to &lllc , rallied to S2) ( < ib2.Yc ajrnln nnd then worked down to Sl jftgSSc. For ( | iilto a lone tlmo thereafter December BWUIIK between 82o and b2 , ' c. Several times it loolted as though nliout to liroalc , but In c.iuh Instance good buying checked the downward tendency. Forelcn news , however , was the most depressing of nny In tono. Bocr- boh m's estimate of the amount on passuKQ showed an increase ot 2,010,000 bushels ana dispatches from London anil Liverpool men tioned that the homo deliveries were In excess of homo requirement ! ! . The Murk Lane Express , In HB rovlow of the Krnin trade , says that 200.0JO quarters of whc ; > t are balnn shipped weekly from Husahi , which is enough tn meet the needs of consuming countries nnd go towards supplying futnro deficiencies. Local speculative sentiment fnvor.s the theory that the situation i ? netting bearish. True , the visible stocks do not increase ns rapidly as in former years , but wheat keeps pouring in nnd tlio pressure from behind docs not Indluato any dancer of tliu drying up of supplies , anil meantime the export move ment is not nearly up to the iivcr.ige necessary to the shipment ot the surplus of this crop year. 'I hero is , however , n uotormined bull narty in every considerable speculative com munity , and up to the present time they have been able to hold their own , though prices are now nearly So buck from the top. Outside markets kept In line with Chicago , an average general decline of XQ ? J/o occurring. Tlii' corn market was extremely dull nnd uninteresting , both for cash and futures. There were only 410 cars received to-day , au'iimst 475 expected , but 49. The amount of contract corn In store here at the end of last week was 2.5 ! ! < 5iS37 bushels. ITluutuutlons were slight and the amount of business done was small. The closing prices were lower than on the previous day , being 80J < ( < ? nic for October , illjrfc for November nnd 3j' : c for May. Oats were quiet and easy to J c lower , With a fair trade in May and also consider able uusinoss in January ut about % c pre mium over cash. 'Iho receipts wcro again large , with 721 cars posted for the llrst two di.ys of this week. Other elements of weak ness were a small decline nt Now York and the general tone of business on the floor. May hovered nround 22 } < c , with December Belling off "ho to llitfc and October neglected nt 18 fijlSJfie. Out of nearly 180,000 with drawn from store , 83,101 bushels , or nearly half , were contract grades. No. 2 regular was quiet at 18fc. Provisions were slower than usual. In October pork there was no interest shown , nnd iu the general trade relief from positive dullness was furnished only by Armour and Butchlnson. The latter bought back about one-half of the January pork ho sold yester day , whllo Armour depressed October short ribs by rather free selling. Outslao specu lation uns almost nt a standstill , and , all things considered , the market was ; mnro passive and featureless than on nny tiny for weeks. Still , former prices were quite well maintained. October and January pork and Janunry lard closed the sauio as yesterday , whllo October nnd November lard , Novem ber pork and November and January short ribs wore only 2Jc lowor. October short ribs showed moro weakness than nny other article traded In nnd suffered a nut break of 12Xc , Cash buyers p.ilu . ? t)20 ) for cholco lard. Atchlson sold cx-rlghts nnd opened nt .11 against 31J < last evening , which would si'om to indicate that the value of the rights was not extravagant In the opinion of tlio ftroot. The Block rose IJf per cent to S3 } { nnd afterwards settled back a fraction.
