THEOMAHA PAJI.Y . FRIDAY , JU3OT5 7 , 1889. THE SPECULATIVE MARKETS , Future Wheat Bulod Lower In a Dull Mnrkot DEAR NEWS FROM ALL QUARTERS Corn Slindcft a Fraction Off nml Outs * CloHo Weak 1'rovlnlnns Hold Tliclr GnltiB nutl Cnttlo Take 11 Tumblo. CHICAGO PUOHUCK MAKKETS. CntcAoo , Juno 0. fSpoclnl Toloffrnm to Tun Hnc.l The cnsh end of the whcnt mnr- Itct was dull , strong nnd higher , to-ilny , on account of the scnrcity of oftoi Ings , but the futures were Inclined to go lower , the remoter v the delivery , the arentcr the wcmtncss dis played. So , whllo .Juno wheat was ranglnK nt TTJilSii'SJi'c , on snmll trades , July worked off J c , anil Uccombcr ncnrly lo. The moro cautious nmong tno benrs pounded July gen tly , nnd went at December with greater vigor. The short Interest In July Is suf ficiently heavy to Imbue them with a feeling that perhaps It would bo safer to sell wheat for delivery at a time when there will proba bly bo a good deal Of grain within reaching distance , should It bo needed to fill. About July theVo Is homo uncertainty , in view of the stnnil reserves , and the bare possibility that there might not bo enough now wheat to RO around. July wheat averages nearly 2c under Jane , nnd December was about the same as July. The local crown took another flop and turned bearish In scnttmont once more. The big bears who boucht wheat around T5o for a turn have seemingly Bold out , nnd their Influence is being thrown the other way. Hcnm , Cudnhy. Linn nnd pretty much the whole list of local specula tive whales were In receipt of bearish news from the four quarters of tlio globo. The California harvest isprogrcssinc llnely under the best possible conditions , and the same is true us to south ICunsus und Missouri. Thcro nro showers In the northwest , and the uugs nro disappearing from Indiana. Besides ull this , the export demand has ceased , and gen eral nnd copious rains have repaired the damage to the Russian crops. The foregoing comprised the budget. To offset this , the bull side , which now embraces qulto as many conscrvntlvc'thinKlug people , us the other aide believes that America is not gumg to rniso morn than an averugo crop of winter wheat , nnd that indications arc against even on average crop of spring wheat , 'Ihoy keep n weather eye on tlio small and rapidly de creasing visible supply , and lend n willing car to reports of injury to crops in Kussin , nnd in the wheat-producing countries , south of the equator. They recall the fact that wheat in Chicago rarnly got down as low as 70c , even when the whole world was glutted with wheat , and speculators yrcro pressing the market with untold millions of bushels of Hat wheat "sola for carrying charges. " They confess feeling friendly to whe.it at the present prices , and profess to see merit in the property. July opened at TGJ c , sold off to 75c , rallied to 70J.fc , ana worked down to 75c , where it closed. December opened nt 7c ( , runecd down to TfiXtanil closed "wobbly" nt "lie. Juno closed nt 7Sc. The aggregate volume of transactions was about half ns great as yesterday , perhaps. There wcro no special features to the dcallncs bo.vond the fact Unit the northwest wns a free seller und Ilutchm- son a good buyer most of the day. Outside markets were Just barely steady , and the cables led to llrmness. The weather continuing to bo moro favorable - vorablo to the crowing crop of corn , keut buyers for investment out of the market , and the tendency in absence of orders to buy wns for the most purl in favor of sellers. Export clearances were very light , but withdrawals from store hero were liberal. The receipts wcro heavier than the estimates of yesterday , and for to-morrow the expected quantity was estimated at 535 cars. At Die 1 or,1 uly some demand sprang up , but the offerings lu the end exceeded the demand. Business In the trading pit was dull for the greater part of the session , iho Httlo activity near the opening exhausting the little vi tality it possessed. Prices closed } { c to j ! c lower to-day than yesterday. In oats there wns nt no time any special activity , the market ruling rather dull and weak. The receipts were greater than ex pected , and the estimates for to-morrow ex ceed 200 cars. The weather wns generally favorable to the new crop , and while there was o general disposition to sell , buying or ders were comparatively few , nnd but little support was shown. July sold down } fc ; to 23X ( 2ajfc , and September was fully that much oft , at S2 } c , down to 2238@22fc. The initial trading in the year deliverv was nt 21J4c. Car lots , to go to store , wcro dull at nbout SlJ22c. ( , A round lot was sold for bhipment nt 2122c , for shoit receipts , with September taken in exchange at 22 c , The provision trudo was saved from dull- jirss by n conUnminco of the life recently shown in shoit ribs. In that article there was again considerable doing. The shorts continued to cover their outstanding con tracts , and us Bomo brokers , said to reprc- rcnt a conplo of the leading packers , com peted with the shorts for the offerings on nalo , the uneasy fcelint' was easily main tained. Short ribs wer.o the center of Inter est nnd attracted to the market the little at tention It commanded. Lard sold moder ately , and In ] x > rk there wns no movement to speak of. The fluctuations in prices wcro confirmed to a narrow range all round , with the tendency inclined in favor of the boar dido. Hogs wcro in bettor supply ana also easier. In the cash product , transactions ap pear to Indicate an improved demand for Im mediate delivery ; lard sold ati > .G.tfG.70 ( , ICO U sweet pickled hams , Si < c. The clos ings for futures showed n decline from yes terday's hist quotations , amounting In pork and short ribs from 7 c to lOc , and in lard from 2 > o to 5c. CHICAGO IjlVIS STOCK. MAHItET. CHICAGO. Whllo dealings In the regular list were greatly improved , the business In trust shares was ngftln very conspicuous. Not withstanding thu rate troubles In the north west nnd the good advances already made , for weeks past , the talk was very confident nnd the tone flrm.
