CHICAGO , Juno n. [ Special Telegram to
Tun BBK.I The wheat market was heavy
and lower to-day , and at n small decline
from Saturday's closing range. There was
nn Immense liquidation , The shorts seemed
willing to pay around "So lor wheat to 1111
their July contracts and the longs acted as
though they were only too glad to got 75c
for their wheat. This in ado business lively ,
and dealings wcro on a very largo scale
within a narrow fluctuation. There was
mora or loss n < mlu about the now support
from Wall street , and the buying of long
wheat by Hutchlnson , Linn and others , but
there was very little tangible evidence to
support the hopeful theory , The whole ap
pearance of the market satisfied the most
careful observer that the great feature
of the market was the ovcnlnc
up of trades by both the longs
nnd the shorts. July started In
at 75Vc , anil there wore sales near the
opening at 76J4"c. From that point the mar
ket worked down to 4c , and up again to
? 5 > c , but the price was within one-eighth of
75c most of the session and by far the largest
proportion of tradinu was done within limits
of MC , Towards the close the market har
dened and the Hculping element and the local
crowd generally scorned to look lor a reac
tion towards better prices. An Incrcuscd
speculative inquiry cave quite a II rm appear
ance to things and there was heavy trading
at the improvement. July closed at 7ii.i"e } ,
or very nearly whore it did Saturday utter
what was seemingly the most hopelessly
bearish day of the season. September ranged
nt 7JJ8@74c : ' , and closed at 74c. Dccember.thc
second most popular delivery , opened at
751/0 , ranged nt75$75.Jjc ! , and closed at 7 , > jf !
@i5jjfc. Juno sold down to 75 > o and left oil
at 75c. The tone at the close was that of
ilrmness.
The receipts of corn wore about as Satur
day's estimates foreshadowed. Those fig
ures were considered favorable to the bull
side of the market. The increase In the vis
ible supply of 553,000 bushels , being leas than
was generally looked for , also leaned in favor
of holders. Foreign markets were steady.
The export clearance from the Atlantic ports
wcro liberal , and the shipping demand hero
was good. On the other hand the weather
was clearing up and the temperature rising ,
and outside domcotic markets wcro showing
tuoro inclination to follow the uccllnes than
the advances hero. The stock in store at
Chicago is now 4,111,174 bushels , and the
total visible supply 11,003,20-1 bushols. There
was a want of animation In tlio business and
the speculative sentiment was nffecJoil some
what by the fluctuations In wheat , which ,
showing some steadiness at the close , helped
to uphold the courage of the buyers of corn
nnd the market left oft fairly llrm at Satur
day's quotations.
Outs were quiet , and about steady. Little
was done in changes , nnd July and Septem
ber were favorites. Next mouth sold up
about % c , to SS4v } , and September was
M@3&v premium. A few cars of No. 2 were
Hold , to go to More , at 22c.
In provisions the opening of the now week
fulled to occasion any great change. Gener
ally speaking , the underlying feeling was
possibly a little stronger than of late , out
there was certainly no improvement in busi
ness. Professionals , again , practically mon
opolized the. trading , and their operations ap
peared tohave no special significance. They
were , in fact , more inclined to scnlp than to
ta.ko sides , and the market passed through
the day In a comparatively uninteresting
mniinor ,
Hogs were received In fair numbers , and
the outlook was considered encouraging for
the receipts of this week , approximating last
xveok's arrivals. In the product tno fluctua
tions wcro confined to a moderate range.
Just before the adjournment the bears ham
mered pork In an unexpected manner , and
that article was made to close lOc to 12 > j'o
under Saturday's last price. Short ribs ,
however , closed unchanged , and lard un
changed to 2c higher.

CHICAGO , Juno i ) . [ Special Telegram to
Tins BBB.I CATTI.K. The market opened
With a "big" supply , 11,000 natives and 4,000
Toxans' . One or two dressed beef firms that
wanted cattle to commence the day's killing
with started out paying about last week's
figures for a limited number of handy ,
smooth steers , but later secured concessions
of 5c and lOc. Eastern shippers and ex
porters from the beginning demanded and
obtained concessions of 10a on the best of the
qualities and lOc and 15c on roughish grades ,
but they evidently wanted cattle , for at 3
o'clock the supply had been about sold. The
big run of Texans sent prices down a strong
lOc , making values 15c lower than the middle
of last week , or BOo lower than ten or fifteen
days ago. The decline in Texans and the big
supply sent prices down on common natives
'nnd canning stock , but prluio cows and
heifers sold steady. Nothing of note is going

OMAHA LIVE STOCK.
Cattle.
Monday , June 8.
To-day's cattle market received quite a
setback , caused liy the decline at eastern
markets. The market on beef and shipping
steers opened slow , with the buyers bidding
lower. Chicago was reporting a liberal run
and the market 5@10o lower , and the buyers
hero did not seem Inclined to buy' unless
they could get , n reduction from Saturday's
prices. Although the market wns slow in
tlio morning , the cnttlo moved quite freely
when the trade wits once warmed up , and
the majority of the holdings were cleaned up
uy mid-day. Tlio prices puid ranged from
Sl.iO to ? ? .JIO , but u largo proportion of the
'sales were it ? t.70@8.l0. The quality of the
bcevos , though fair , was far from bolng as
good as on Saturday , and there was nothing
that could bo compared with the S4.15 cattle
of Saturday , For that reason the sales do
not show up so well us at tbo close of last
week. Tim market , upon the whole was 5o
lower , and in some Instances lOc lower on
cattle that were notqulto so desirable. The
supply of butchers' stock < vus not heav ? ana
prices w ro about steady. The quality was
no''ung ' extra , although there w re a few
head of cows good enough to bring W.IC ®
