In an interview yesterday ho said ho hoped that , for the sake of the stats and the city , the citizens of Omaha would not fail to properly commem orate the event. The board of public works yesterday re ceived from the Omaha Motor company an application , which will also bo picscntcd to the council , asking permission to extend its tracks along Loavcnworlh to Sixteenth mitt across the viaduct on Sixteenth to Vinton , and west on Vinton to Twenty-fourth street. A MIsundcrstAndlng Hotwoon Mr Free and the Union. The journeymen plumbers * union has ordered out the members of that association- employed by M. E. Free , who conducts n plumbing Institution on Seventeenth otroot , between Capitol nvonuo and Douglas street , alleging that ho docs not pay the required scale of wages and has employed too many jobbers or ap prentices. The journeymen claim that un der the existing understanding between themselves and the master plumber that only ono jobber can Co employed to every four journeymen nnd fraction thereof. Mr. Free originally had in his employ fifteen Journeymen and three jobbers , but work becoming scarce ho decreased his force to two Journeymen and three jobbers. Ono of these latter was dispensed with , but the proportion still remained too high and for this reason principally the walkout was or dered. Mr. Free sny'u that ho has always paid wages \ip to the scale and sometimes oven higher , ono of his men receiving $5 per day. Mr. Free succeeded in securing the services of ono plumber from the east , but ho says that ho was Induced to Icavo by the union. Ho declares his intention of continuing business and Ignoring the union altogether. The rule icpardlng the hiring of jobbers , who nro apprentices , ho says the master plumbers never paid any attention to. It Is said that Omaha is about to lese the proposed paper mill near "Cut-off lake through the lethargy of tbo board of trade , which utterly Ignores Mr. Henry Corker , the gentleman who intended building the fac tory. Mr. Corker has been hero since last fall making arrangements for the location of the mill , and everything was about in readi ness when an objection was raised to run ning the refuse Into Cut-off lake , ns it would spoil the lake for ice purposes. Mr. Corner has therefore been somewhat at .1 loss to know whnt to do , and for the lirst time has called upon the board of trade and asked the members as to the best way out of the present difficulty.
