The entire number of sturdy nnd determined farmers who defied the United States offlclal peaceably accom panied the county officers , whom they regard as friends. They were arraigned in n Justice court this afternoon , and , waiving examina tion , were each placed under ? 300 bonds for nppen'ranco at the May term of court. Ball was readily secured. The settlers nnnounco nn Intention to then secure n postponement of the trial , anil continue this policy until congress takes dollnlto action. They hope to obtain certain relief from the next session of congress , nnd thus ovudo the present flno nnd Imprisonment. The Slnyor of a Whole Family Cap tured in Arknnaas. LITTLE KOCK , Ark. , April 5. A Fordyce , Ark. , special says : Q. B. DIckson , sheriff of Titus county , Texas , has arrested Frank Shultz at that ptnco on a charge of murder. On the night of December 10 last tholiouso of J. K. King , a wnll-to-do farmer of Titus county , wns burned , and the charred remains - mains of King , his wife and six children found in the ashes. Upon examination it was found that the skulls of all the family had been crushed in , and an axe and hatchet were found In the house. On the Juof the murder King and his son , aged twenty , had killed hogs , aud as they were to inovo Into a new house n few hundred yards distant , they had carried the meat Into the new house , and young King slept there to guard the meat on the night ot the murder. Before going down to the new house for the night , young Kinc had used a knlfo and had left it nt the yard cate. Suspicion pointed to King's son-in-law. Schultz , first cousin to the man arrested here , who had run away with King's daugh ter and had forged an order for a marriage liccnso , and it was fear of being prosecuted for forgery that oauscd him to murder King and his family. Sohultz , King's son-in-law , had made threats , and has slnco confessed to a friend that ho and his cousin did the killing that ho killed King and his wife , and that his cousin killed the six children and then set fira to the house. Young Schultz , who wns arrested hero , carao to Dallas county in January with John Parham , and has been living with him. Ho says ho can prove that he was forty-flvo miles away at the time of the killing. Cal wns declared the winner after punishing the Philadelphia man's head and face utmost to a mass of bleeding Jlesh , in six rounds. Ho is twenty-two years old , stands five feel four und n half inches tall , and weighed 110 pounds. Cal McCarthy has a record of never having been defeated. This was his twenty- sixth battle. His ago Is twonty-oiio years and ho stands flvo feet two inches in holghth , weighing 114 pounds. Both boys were in the pink of condition. The Philadelphia boy proved nothing more nor less than 11 chopping block. Moore , who was then living in Syracuse. Mdgglo Mitchell , nbout a yonr and n half hpo , found a letter addressed to her husbanil. She thought It wns a business letter , and was shocked nt its contents. It was written by Minnie Moore , whom she subsequently mot nt Syra cuse. The latter acknowledged that she hnd been intimate with Paddock , nnd furnished Miss Mitchell with what the latter considered convincing proofs of her husband's infidelity. Then Miss Mitchell instituted proceedings for d I- vorco. Paddock filed an answer to her bill of com- plnlnt , denying ndultery , but failed to take tko witness stand in the caso. Mlnnlo Moore said under oath that ho had bcon Intlmato with her. Both she nnd her mother testified that they did not know Paddock wns a mar ried man until 1884. It was put In ovldonco by Maggie Mitchell that there was no collu sion between her and Paddock to secure a divorce.
