The petitioner * said the present service was
unsatisfactory , nnd cited a number of facts
in proof. Among thoni was ono that they
had built a number of dwellings In West
Omaha , with the undorHtandliiir that the
company would give them good service.

of the car company , and ho had told him
there would bo regular accommodation bo
twecn Tenth nnd Thirty-sixth streets , along
Farnnm street , but , instead of that , they
were obliged to put up with a half hour
service , west from Tiventj'-olshth street ,
and often hail to wnlt more than that time
for the "stablo" ears' start. Then these
cars ceased running nt 0 p. in. When they
did start , the horses were old and worn out
and liable to drop thorn within n blocu o1'
two west of Twenty-eighth street. They
therefore asked that the city council compel
tbo street railway company to operate the
line in uccordanco with the city ordinances
governing such mattois. Tlio petition was
referred to the coiiimitto on viaducts and
bridges.
Kitchen Uros , and twcnty-soven others
next remonstrated against allowing tbo
Motor company to erect poles in the streets
of Omaha. The Instrument was referred to
the committee on viaducts and bridges.
The question of printing came up and the
bids were read for the bonollt of the now
members of tlio council. This was done be
cause the old council had not reported on
them , and the matter was referred to the
committee on printing.
The First Gorman Unptist church nslced
the now council for a remission of the taxes
on their property , and were backed up by tlio
county commissioners. Their communlca-
wus referred to the city attorney.

The bonds of Louis Ooldsmidt , city gar
bage master , who had boon apnomtud a
special policeman , were approved , "the bonds
men being Charles ,1. Mentor and Oscar S.

Then the city attorney approved of a num
ber ol bonds , but declined to accupt of lour
for technical reasons only. Those were the
bonds of the Omaha Gas Manufucturincr
company , as master plumbers ; Jameson &
Co. , as plumbers ; H. II. liroivn. as muster
plumber , and Birmingham & McDcrmott , us
master plumbers.
An ordinance authorizing the payment of
HS OOO for oxpendltuics of the month of Do-
coniuer was then passed , and another pro
hibiting the erection of poles and wires by
any street car company , was read first and
second time , aud the council adjourned.
