Ol-Vank Diamond and \Vllllam Johnson , the convicted burglars , who catered the store of William Crlppcn , at Neola , were taken to Ft. Madison last eveniiiR by Deputy Sheriff Currie. They were each sent over for four J cars , About n do/en Omaha policemen visited the Blufls .yesterday afternoon to see what their brother peelers on this side of the Muddy were doing , as Well as to take a ride on the electric cant. They took in the entire eity , _ jiiid returned to Nebraska soil in the evening. No business was transacted in the district court yesterday. Court opened in the morn ing as usual , but an adjournment wastaltca until this morninif. The case of Charles Aull , for the larceny of an overcoat belong ing to H S. Uichard.son. from the Muthodist church , is set for trial this morning. Council Hluffs merchants never made a more attractive holiday display than this 81-ason. There is no need of going away from homo to select suitable uitts for this year. There is sonic complaint among cer tain classes of merchants because tno weather Is too linewand trade isiiaokward , but on the whole business is good , and there is a general smile in business circles. The Pall Mall club has issued invitation * for u select party to bo given at the Koyal Arcanum parlors Wednesday evening , the 10th inst. This will bo the llrst Pall Mall party this season. The club gave hcver.il en joyable social affairs last winter , and they will bo repeated the pivscat season. The executive committee of the club is composed nf .1. N. Haldwin , Fred M. Loomis , R H. Evans , John M. Pusoy. Alex Malmoase. The officers of the deaf nnd dumb institute seem to llnd dilllculties in getting the prohib itory law enforced even among employes of n state institution. One of the employes is said to have committed a petty larceny while drunk in Omaha the other dav. Another is reported ns being found dead drunk the other night. They will probably bo hunting new nlnces now , and complaining that the institution is not conducted as it should bo. The now building of the Piano manufac turing company on Lower Uroadway , be tween the now power house of the Electric motor company and the waterworks pump ing station , js going up rapidly and will bo u peed si/ed structure. The walls of the new factory for the ICeyes llros. , cart and buggy company are also rising very fast , nnd the building will soon bo completed. Two new cottages are going up opposite F. J. Day's new real estate oftlce , and altogether that part of the city is changing appearance quite rapidly. Will the city council change the charter of the motor company so as to allow moi o than 10 cents to be charged i Th fact that such n change has been asked for is causing much hot discussion. There are many who want the company hold to the original schedule of rates , and if any chMige is made there will bo a lively howl. There Is every Indication of u linur.il patronage for the motor line , and It seems that nt 10 cents thcro will bo enough money made to warrant lower commutation rates very soon. The company says it cannot - . not eivo commutation rates unless allowed to increase the transient rates a little. Dr. Cleaver , ii ! ( North Alain. Tol. 1-17. Sco W. C. Mason * Decorate Themselves. The Council Bluffs Masons have the finest block and most attractive halls in the state. These rooms have just come from the able hands of Peter C. Miller , the decorator. A brief description of the lccorationswill be interesting. The entire suit of rooms , six in nil , have been embellished in the best and most modern style of the decorators' art. The principal part of the work was done on the lodge room proper. The ceiling is put in three panels.tho center being a large square. The field is a hand some buir ingrain , which is set out by a bronze extension and corners. A light bronze divide throws the whole into beautiful relief. A half-inch copper moulding separates the paneling from the cave. This is a delicate shade of peacock blue. This is Mil-mounted by a gilt moulding below which extends the frieze , which is in an ingrain terra cotta. A two and a half inch white and gold moulding surmounts the side walls proper , which arc in a handsome gray and gold ingrain. The dado is a plain brou/.o. Beautiful panels in alcove style tire set at either end , which adds greatly to the general effect. It is truly a beautiful room. . o. Married. At the residence of P. .
