forgery. On last Monday morning a stranger ,
giving Ills name as John Miller , appeared at
the elevator hi charge of Mr. Uosscrman ,
seeking to contract a quantity of corn , nnd

known to Hosbei man ho was refused. Ho
then wont on the suno mission to
Win ion's elevator , where ho was again
refused. About o'clock in the evening ,
becoming somewhat desperate , he called at
Mr. Hmnoy's stoio and procured a blank
chuck , which ho look acioss the street to ,
Justice Pattoi son's ' plmo of business , wheio

yens , ho boldly asked "tho squire" to 1111 out
ft check for him. Patterson being accus
tomed tu such requests , began byasking in

lie replied in favor of John Miller. Next a

then handed him the check to sign , when the

ing and placed in the city Jail charged with
gland hucciiy in stealing a check fet $2,475
from the Nobriska National bink of Omaha
Mr. II. J. Davis , at the instance of the above
bank , piefeued the charge and Illcd tlie in
formation.
Mr. Souer is well known in this city , and
was , up to a very shoit time ago , the Junior
partner in the film of Uedford & Souer , real

for hib ondoisement , tlnnking that amount
