AN EASIER FEELING IN CORN. lilttlo DoliiR In Onts'-Provlslons He- cover MIJKtitly Hut Clone Slow lilttlc ClmtiRC In Cnttlo Weak. CHICAGO ritODUCE MAKKRT. CiiirAflo , Oct. 27. [ Special Telegram to THE UEE. ] Wheat mudo another pain to day. The highest point touched was (1.18 for December and tl.10 for May. The aver- ngo price was } ( < ic below the outside range , or about Ic above yesterday's closing quotations. May and December started off about even , but throughout most of the ses sion the price of Deccnibcr ranged X@Wc under May. This would scorn to Indicate that the Hhort Interest Is getting out of De cember. Commission merchants have been making heroic efforts for thrco weeks to clear their books ot December trades , and they have measurcably succeeded , whllo scalpers aio doing very llltlo in near deliv eries. May opened at tl.l @l.r Mt soltl UP X@Xc , then off to tl.lT . The course of the market , therefore , was stcaally upwards until tt.19 was reached , there being , of course , Intermediate reactions , but nothing Important. From (1.10 the price worked back from II.18V up to * USJf , with f 1.18J { the favorite resting place the last hour or two. The close for May was. however , H.lS tgl.lU , re newed strength developing ut the last. De cember left off at $1.18 sellers. As on yes terday and the day before , Hutchlnson was the largest open buyer , and ho was said also to bo active In St. Louis and other markets. Minneapolis and Duluth were steady and slightly higher. St. Louis was considerably higher , waking quite an large a Jump us Chi cago. Cables were steady , but the air here abouts was charged with bull news and bull tips. Hutchinson has declared that wncat will bo $1.25 next week. Hu can put it there if ho wants to , and he may liavo pride in see ing his prediction verified that wheat would bo (1.25 or above every month of the crop year after August. Dispatches to the effect that Uradstrect'H out with a statement that there would be no more wheat to export from Atlantic ports this crop year niado a ntlr early In the day. The actual value of Btatistics which lion around lilco Brad- Rtrcct's do is very slight , but scalpers used this bit of news with some effect. This latest conclusion of bradstrcct's happens to be in iiarmony with the best in telligence of trade , but It is directly antago nistic to previous estimates emanating from the same source. Light receipts constituted the strongest bull card of the day , however. The volume of trade in the pit was not ex cessive , but it mounted up Into a respectable uggicgatc. Short selling was unpopular , but the realizing of protlts on trades was quite . "transient" lines general. Larger were dumped yesterday and bull leaders did not have to take such big bites , but the } ' , never theless , added materially to their lines. The feeling was that of great firmness and steadi ness the lust half hour and final urlccs were nearly at the top. The bears arc doing little. They feel that prices are too high , but they have abiding respect for the power of the bulls , anu fear of the scarcity of speculative grades. May wheat closed nearly 60 a bushel higher than a week ago , and 80c per bushel above corn for the same month. There was u decidedly easier feeling In the corn market at the opening of business , brought about by some selling by leading operators added to Inrtro receipts and only moderate shipments , first quotations wcro : November 413-fc und May SSfa , which was a decline on hear futures of jc slnco yester day , while May opened at the same price it closed on the previous day. The export de mand was good , thirteen loads being reported taken to-day at New York , and Liverpool ad vices quoted a good demand as existing there. Trading was light and the weak fool ing at the beginning was added to by a 'further ' decline , occasioned on a promise of Monday's receipts figuring out 760 car loads. Beyond the foregoing there was no special features. The result of the day's business was a loss on the November future of % Qc , on December of % c , and May lost Jjfe , closing at 88Jfc. The resting price of November was 40tt@-tlc , and of December 89tfp. Oats shared the general quietude , with little - tlo doing on the regular market outside of May , which was in the moderate favor , around ' \\c. \ The day's receipts and the estimates for next Monday wcro fairly liberal and with tbo absence of outside speculative orders , business was confined to room trad ers. The week closes with little interest In riuy futures of the current year , and no ap parent demand to cover shorts. A few curs of oats in store sold at 24Jfc , or about previ ous prices , with sales of cash oats chiefly by sample. The provision trade closed the week In a rather slow manner. Hutchinson bought oino pork , lard and short ribs for Janu ary to-day , but aside from his operations the market was featureless. Operators acted as If they were u little undecided and preferred to await developments In the way of hog receipts , the movement of cash pro duct , and the action of packers before branch ing out. Still there was tome recovery from yesterday's depression , and at the close pork for the different deliveries this sldo of May showed an advance of lOc , January lard of Sc , and January short ribs of 7JjC. May pork rested So higher , but October short ribs were 5c lower. ' Lard , except for January , closed unchanged toS c easier. CHICAGO JjIVE STOCK. CHICAGO , Oct. 27. [ Special Telegram to Tun BEE.I CATTLE Business was slow , more on account of lack ot stock than any other fac tor , as there was hardly five hundred head on the direct market , as the great bulk of ar rivals were Toxuns , nearly all of which be longed to Swift , Armour and Morris , coming direct from western points. So it will bo seen that there were no inducements to buy era to get out , even if they had orders , us there was nothing on the market they wanted. The sales of natives consisted largely of odds and ends of what was loft last night , and so far as prices are concerned thcro was little or no change us compared with yesterday , and the general market closed steady at the decline previously noted. Excepting the spurt on Tues day the market has been profoundly weak from opening to finish , but escaped with an aggregate decline of 20@25o In com mon and medium grades and of 10Q15O m coed to choice , such as are classed as extra. Thcro was scarcely u sufllcient number to establish prices , but the fact that there was ono sale at $0.60 would Indicate that there has been no Important change In the selling value of that class. Cows and bulls and all descriptions of canners and butchers' stock Is 15@25o cheaper than last week. Stackers and feeders are in full request at nearly steady rates. ISpecIal Telegram to THE -UKe/l STOCKS Thcro were 09,555 shares of stock suld to-day , the short i esslon ; being ijuiet and uninteresting. The opening w at or near .last night's closing figure and some alight gains wcro mndo early , buv subsequently the feeling weakened and thcro were fractional declines In nearly all stocks in which thcro was any trading.
