On Saturday night CJeorgi' A. Jnlyii , man-
nijcrof the Western Ncwspiper Union , nar
rowly escaped being killed with Jiis niece and
team at tlio Tenth street railroad crossing.
Ho was driving north neoross the tracks ,
having boon nt the depot to meet his wife ,
whom ho oxpcelcd to return from a trip east.
She did not come , however , and in crossing
the tracks Mr. .loslvn drove cautiously ,
getting out of the way of the Hying car
which was coming down the track.
On ono of the north tracks
Blood n freight train which blocked
up the roadway with the exception of 11 space
on the west side about wide enough to enable
n vehicle to pass. A switchman with n Inn-
torn stood at the opening , and in response to
two inquiries by Mr. .loslyn , called out to
him to come ahead. Mr. Josiyn started , nud
when driving past tholrain Iho latter istarted
and struck his carriage , crushing It to the
pround. Ono of the horses broke a trace
and in fright ran around in front of the other
nnimnl and thus i ulled carriage anti occupants
from the track. The accident frightened
Mr. Joslyn's niece , Miss Angio Hoyce ,
nml indeed caused a tremor to run through
those who saw the narrow escape. The ac
cident , however , was inovllablu and is the
consequence of apraclico which the road has
of "tailing" traiuh at the crossing which uro
liable to start at any moment. In this in
stance it is claimed that Iho swilehman , in
stead of realizing Iho danger , seemed to reck
lessly encourage Mr. Josiyn to meet a horrible
rible death.

OUR NEW ADDITION
Is being rapidly pushed to completion and \vo hope to open the same by the 15th hist.
The changes and improve incuts which we are also making in the old store extend to
every floor and department. We propose to have not only the largest , but also the best
arranged and best lighted Clothing Establishment.
We have to apologize to our patrons for the present condition of our store , but it
is unavoidable ; we are not only crowded with goods but crowded with buyers at all
times , and customers may lind it a little inconvenient but they will find themselves
amply repai d by the low prices we are making throughout our entire stock and tlio
many bargains we are offering.
Our stock of Overcoats is enormous and the change in the weather has created
quite a demand for them. We have everything imaginable , or at least desirable , and
among our stock will bo found many lots which are marked in price far below their in
trinsic value.
The lions' Suit stock is the heaviest ever shown and its variety warrants the as
sertion that whoever buys a Winter Suit without at least looking here , fails to consult
his own interest. There is not an establishment in the west that ofl'ers the selection or
names the prices we do.
Hoys and Children are as amply provided for we still have some of the special
bargain Knee Pant Suits at $ L\50 a suit , which would be cheap at $5.00. We want every
mother to look at this suit. In long Taut Suits and Boys' and hildreu' s Overcoats wo
offer great inducements.
Underwear you can buy of us at lower prices than the regular retailers pay for
them.
Gloves , Hosiery , Neckwear and all other ] \Iens' \ furnishings at lowest possible
prices.
Hats are almost given away , at least you would think so if you look at the con
stant rush in our Hat Department. The quantities we handle of these goods , and the
way we buy them puts all competition out of the question.
