It was I -ix ) and the best advertisement that could bo given the county. IJox llutto took the second end premium ; Cumlng county the third ; Uundv county the fourth ; 1'crklns countv the fifth. Those county exhibit ) wore truly Magnificent. Hut Lancaster county eamo In on the home stretch and took the sweepstakes - stakes premium. Thu morning did not auger well for the fair. Lowering clouds betokened rain , and the wind wus too high for comfoit from under - dor shelter. Hut the afternoon was fairly ph in itit nnd thu crowd enjoyed themselves as thoroughly us tiny other day during the fair. fair.Lust Lust night's industrial parade surpassed fverythlng of the kind ever undertaken by the citizens of Lincoln. It was the finest special show that took plnco during thu fair. It was a da/7lmg advertisement of Lincoln imluUri2s and worth its weight In gold. No und of bad blood was engendered by the decision * ot the premium awardors There was a more general kick than ever before fore known during the history ot fairs In the state. It extended from agricultural hall to the ontlro circuit of the grounds. The ex hibitors were n hard crowd to please. In a financial sense the state fair was a huge success. Wednesday's receipts paid the entire expense of the whole concern. It was a great fair from top to bottom. At the meeting of the poultry and fat stock association last evening the financial condi tion of the association was considered ut length Hut as the indebtedness only amounted to 8100 it was speedily raised and butter chenr ruled. The winter mooting of the association promises to be one of unusual interest. It will be held in December m this cityCider Cider mills have been sprinkled over the giounds quite liberally during the week. Tlio goods they off ei eel to the thirsty were quite liberally sprinkled with water , too. Horace H. Chase and his band of Indian boys , Unity in number , behaved them selves quite well dining the fair. This show of harness , shoes , bead work , drawing and carpenter work also did them cicdit. Mr. Chase has the hand of boys under thu most thorough disci pline. Archie II. won the running race yesterday in two straight heats to the sin prise of every body. Compulsion was nowhere. Vigil ante , however , crowded him from the start into the home btretch. It was n splendid inn. inn.Tho race for home to-morrow will attract very good attention. It will bo tame com pared with the free-for-all race to-day for the < yCO purse. And , moieovor , betting on the winner will not have the benefit of any odds. Arapahoe county , Colorado , located In the cxtiemo west part of agricultural hall , has almost been overlooked , and her display of Hold and garden products was quite good. It averaged well with some other displays , and a great fuss has been nade about them. Mrs Will E. Halm , of Omaha , carried oft : lrst premium on her line of nraseno work. .This was a deserved compliment and an honor fairly won. A I\NK ivjrsTicr. P. Hans , florist of Omaha , had whatcntics iironounced the finest exhibition of green House plants on the grounds Ho had 100 varieties In pots and 1.20J plants in all , of variegated colors , making nn elegant display. Mr. Haas had reason to expect fair treat ment and some of the loading premiums , if not the first , but the committee passed him by with silent contempt , or so it would seem , for ho was put off with a miserable ulttnnef. lie was given a few eompioniiso IH-emiiimson fusclnas. This , however , eamo when Mr. Haas' protest was taken to head quarters. The same display took twenty- eight premiums at the Omaha fair. It was elegant and one of the largest and best on the grounds. Hank injustice has been done. Tun Hiu : representative insists that ho had one of thu finest exhibits of plants and flowers at the exposition. Mnrk ftf Coad , of Fremont , proprietor of the Maple Giovo stock farm , has now fully demonstrated that Percheron hoi ses can bo bred in this country as well as anywhere , and the nine head ho bad on exhibition were one of the princlpil attractions to nil lovers of horse lloJh. The excellency of the show ing made bv , the stable will bo scon in the fact that the nine head took cloven pre miums. und that of these the four native bred carried off four , one of them taking first prUo , und the gold medal offered by ttio Percheron association for the best stallion raised in Nebraska. The winner was the colt ficncral Uoulanger , which in appearance and build cannot bo excelled by any competitor in either Franco or America. Another notable vic tory for the Maple Grove stock farm , was the winning of the sweepstake * in a trial of thu Porchcron class , bv the imported five- year-old mare Vaillanto. In addition to this , at the grand sweepstakes for nil exhibits.Mr. Coiul's stable again camu to the front and carried oft the prize against all other exhib itors and competitors , and there was no gainsaying that it was entitled to it. The well deserved success of Mr. Coad in this line will no doubt bo an Incentive for others to devote moio time toward improving the stock of the stnto , and ore long better tlio lead In that as it already dees in so many tilings. Maple Grove farm is near Fremont , Nob. , nnd is already one of thu most widely known in the west. This lie said was contrary to the wishes of the " ( J'1 management , who had planned to con tinue to run the train through Omaha , which had proved n profitable move. The Iowa lines protested tb.it they could not tolerate it , as the "Q" was thus enabled to put business into Omaha bovoral hours in advance of the arrival of their west bound trains on the slow time card. The Union Pacific , having to adjust Its running iimo to receive the busi ness from the Iowa lines , of course , was compelled to join the latter in its demand fern n discontinuance of the Omaha flyer. Thus it is that the "Q" seeks to wash it hands of all responsibility in the matter. Mr. S. S. Stevens , of the Koclc Island , stated that It was red ictllous to talk of the Itoelt Island road having anything to do with the Hurlincton's running their llyer through Omaha. He said their road had no interest in thu mattur and had never suggested even to the H iM M that they discontinue their Omaha route for their western fast freight. Mr. Nash , of the Milwaukee , st itcd that their company had no Interest in the H. & M.'s train , and had never made any com plaint : about its coming into Omaha ; that they ran their own through sleeper from Omaha and whatever course the H. &M. took in their west bound tram could not affect their line , and that they had never asked them to abandon their ( Iyer through Omaha. Mr. Uabcock of the Northwestern could not bo scon. Other officials in tlio oflleo ex pressed surprise that the H & M. should blame their line for their failure to make Omaha a main station on their through Hue.
